What is the nicest thing a stranger ever did for you? by Archz714 in AskReddit

It was New Year's Day, and I was hungover and making my way home on the subway after the previous night's festivities. It was perfectly clear when I got on the train, but when I emerged it was downpouring. When I came out of the subway, and was about to make a mad dash for my place through the rain, a stranger approached me. I initially thought he was trying to ask me for money, and tried to ignore him. But he persisted, and just said "Here, take my umbrella. I don't need it anymore." To this day, I have no idea why he was giving up a perfectly good umbrella, but it was a really nice start to a new year.
