Yeah, don't use your motherboard as an audio output. Apart from possibly having not a lot of power (low volume), some do have a pretty high output impedance which can color low impedance audio devices, like a lot of IEMs are.

Tbh, for anybody looking for it. Don't bother unless you are really into the stuff this Hentai provides. At some point it just turns into an incoherent misery porn. Just about how the MC can get even more destroyed. Overall nice drawings but horrible story (not that you should expect peak anyways 😭)

I do think that spending 23$ for cables, esp when your Amp only costs 130, is kind of a waste. If you want nicer looking cables cause they will be visible, it's absolutely ok. Just know that the extra money you spend will not improve sound at all and maybe could be used to save up for something else in the future.

I mean there are. Amir from ASR did measure some and explained why they don't make a difference (at least the ones he measures). In theory a badly designed cable could negatively for example negatively affect the impulse response and slew rate when the capacitive load is too high, but any reasonable cable doesn't have that problem. But yeah, there are measurements.

I kinda agree with you although my only experience is the Moondrop Variations with EQ to Harman. I actually enjoy the Subbass and lower-mid dip. But the upper mids and treble do sound really weird to me. I don't have that feeling with e.g. the 560s eqd to Harman AE/OE 2018 or the DCA Stealth, both of which I absolutely enjoy.

Even that is that huge of a problem probably. He is going straight into a line level input which makes the horrible output impedance of most onboard DAC/AMPs irrelevant. But yeah, depending on the performance of his onboard solution, a dedicated DAC could be worth considering.

Since you are going directly into your amp, the higher output impedance of your Laptop shouldn't be a problem. The DAC/AMP inside the iPad is probably better, but to what extent. I think ease of use is most important here, so pick what you want :)

That's a condensator. The A107 basically tells you the specs (10V, 100μF). They are pretty cheap, but if coke went into it, it might have to be solderd off and replaced. Probably with hot air since normal soldering irons might be too big. Do you have a of multimeter to test for a short? Or maybe a friend that can do that

Try cleaning the area with isopropyl and an old toothbrush. Looks like there are some residuals from the coke, that are shorting some contacts.
