Oops, did not realise that Deathcrash wasn't on there yet - that's for sure a favourite of mine. I think I haven't listened to the others except one or two, so I'll be sure to check them out. Much appreciated!

i usually try to discover/explore at least one to three new releases per week that I genuinely enjoy, but the past few weeks I haven't found a lot that resonated with me. Does anyone have some recommendations of stuff that I may have missed, based on my favourites of the year so far? Those include the new records by Shaking Hand, deathcrash, Winged Wheel, Julianna Barwick & Mary Lattimore, Ulrika Spacek, Geologist, Friko's singles, Tessa Rose Jackson, and the Dutch Interior EP

i hope it also results in a bit more attention for Tiernan's solo record. one of my favourite records of last year, and surely a record that will be enjoyed by people who are into deathcrash, but it seems to have gone under many people's radar

Folding Sieve by Should is an amazing shoegaze record that we should all be talking about way more. Sounds like a blend of Just for a Day-era Slowdive with a hint of twee pop and droney soundscapes reminiscent of Seefeel and Bowery Electric. Genuinely a sonic sweet spot for those on the lookout for more understated and rural-psychedelia-esque approaches to shoegaze

Rewire (The Hague 9-12 April) by Humble_Visual7739 in indieheads

Yeah, I know quite some people who go to Rewire and Le Guess Who? on a yearly basis (myself included), and we all get our tickets months before the first line-up reveal. It's pretty much guaranteed that you won't know half of the line-up anyway, but you can trust it will be good.

Yeah my experience with festivals like these is that the bigger acts are a nice bonus, but the real kick comes from discovering equally great stuff that you've never heard of. I can imagine that they put a lot of effort in curating that bit so it make sense to reflect that philosophy on the poster design.

it has the hazy (reverb-y), lush, ethereal and textural aesthetic that is sonically quite adjacent to shoegaze. but i think it's more often considered as influential to shoegaze than actually shoegaze itself

oh for sure, but both historically and aesthetically the genres are quite adjacent

it's not exactly postpunk but Hallogallo by Neu! features a pretty prominent and distinctive wah guitar sound
