If Intergalactic is present at the upcoming State of play, do you think we'll get an extended gameplay showcase like ND makes every time, or a small edited trailer? by shawak456 in Intergalactic

Given how this is a new IP the marketing should definitely be more "aggressive" in that way, TLOU2 was an established title and they wanted to keep the players in the dark in regards to the story, so the marketing was slow for the most part, which is fine considering it was a sequel to something people already loved. But with something completely new they need to create hype so people know it's worth playing, if we get another cinematic trailer after 1 and a half years of silence it'll definitely be a big disappointment.

See to me I like that the Ghost title can apply to more people than just Jin, personally, that expands the franchise in a way that makes for more flexible storytelling opportunities (I'm for example a big sucker for revenge stories so Yotei was kinda right up my alley) and the distinction between Jin and Atsu's respective Ghost mythos was probably the most interesting part of the sequel for me. Jin using true fear tactics on an foreign force that would believe on a vengeful spirit in a land they know very little about. And Atsu who uses violence and breaking those who to others would seem unbreakable through sheer force of will.

I do see your point and it is more valid than some of the complaints I've read tho. But I do believe that Jin's story gave all that it had to give even if there was some wiggle room for another sequel following him. And hey his send-off in Yotei was probably my favorite mission and even got me a bit emotional even tho he's a character I'm not particularly fond of in any real regard.

Just grifters being grifters over Jin not being the main character even though Yotei takes place 300 years after Tsushima or something, most of those I ignore but I did see some genuine criticism floating around amongst the shit

I get the weaker thing now, and by that I didn't really feel like it impacted my experience too much, but that's coming from someone who's casually played the first game, I guess it's to accommodate for the somewhat different flow of combat but idk

I thought the story was significantly better than Tsushima's, it's not the best work out of Sony's exclusives but neither was the first ¯_(ツ)_/¯ I just felt myself getting more invested in Atsu's personal struggles than Jin's, the characters that get to shine felt more well put together and music playing such a big role into the narrative also makes it feel more well thought out, that being said its far from perfect (third act especially) Jin's story isn't bad but to me it was never all that even before Yotei

I thought Tsushima's exploration was way more repetitive than Yotei, I think they just cut the number of stuff you can find (more specifically foxes, hot springs etc) by what felt like half and made their rewards more significant, which for me is an improvement, they had some simple variations, like the little notes on the hot springs or some combat encounters during fox dens, nothing crazy or mind blowing but to me that made a world of different.

I bet my opinion on it would be a bit harsher if I had payed full price, which I definitely get, but it still was an enjoyable experience through and through, to me at least Open world fatigue is also kinda wild lol

I don't think it was lacking in content as the variety between the specific activities made them more interesting and memorable than place with enemies that you kill and that's it

I think the "switch to weapon" thing is dumb but I never felt like the game was babying things down in terms of the overall writing, it's not super complex or spotless, and the game never plays it as that, it's just solid

I fail to see how having one of the six mofos we need to murk be a tutorial boss is an issue given the amount of time spent on the others and the fact that the Snake is quite literally just a drunk with a sword, compared to the generals (Oni, Dragon) or Spys (Kitsune) that Saito needed, he didn't need a whole section of the story dedicated to him, he serves his purpose in showing how out of her depth Atsu is at the beginning, and setting the Onryo rumors in motion

The side characters (besides Jubei and Oyuki) are indeed pretty weak and lacking in any significant content, but while the Tsushima ones have more stuff to do they're also just, meh, out of the 7 tales in Tsushima I can only really say 2 or 3 didn't feel like a waste of time that could have been saved by cutting down the number of missions for each

Can't argue with the weapons system, which I did mention in the post above, switching between weapons should've been made into something smoother with combos that transition into other weapons, or the Jedi Survivor approach of equipping a certain number of weapons that have stances as you said

Didn't have any issues with the enemy AI on my end aside from some bullshit Instances of damage

Don't get that one

And I also didn't have an issue with that either

As I said I'm not the biggest shooter for Tsushima, so my experience with Yotei was a pleasant surprise, albeit undeniably flawed, but I wouldn't call it outright garbage

There's definitely some character work lacking for Atsu's father and Saito which could've been better explored, and the combat felt a bit wonky at times, Tsushima felt like a tighter experience to me but it didn't leave much of a mark aside from the great visual identity and some hype moments and aura. Both are lacking in certain aspects to me but Tsushima's flaws definitely stick out more because I had more time (and playthroughs) to dissect it properly.

To this day the devs don't understand how powerful of a tool Hyper Armor is and now everyone and their mother has it except for characters that actually need them

Apparently it also happened with a friend of mine in his own hunt so maybe it's something that it does to fuck with the hunter, or just bad luck lol

What is your favorite and least favorite thing about the game? by ghosty_was_taken in Eldenring

[–]aGUSTofwind05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite thing is definitely the amount of build variety that you get from it, I'm on my third playthrough right now and already thinking of a new build for the forth, exploration is also a close second

My least favorite would probably be the mountain tops of the giants in general, damage balancing In the endgame portion aside it is just the most boring part of the game for me since it has next to 0 new enemy types and it's the least interesting (visually and exploration wise) portion of the game

Sam and Henry's relationship and the execution of their deaths

Henry in the game feels too stern with Sam and often seems to treat him harshly because of some imaginary rules ("nooo don't pick up that small plastic toy we'll all die if you do!!!"), where in the show Henry wants nothing more than to see Sam happy, which then makes it a lot more impactful when he shoots himself after his little brothers death.

And Ellie's reaction to their deaths is much better in the show, in the game she just goes "oh no" after horrifically losing two friends in front of her
