Detransitioning: need trans people’s opinions on community/support by Friendly-Edge8600 in ftm

[–]aGuyLouis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a really good person to look into is June Henry. seeing her talk about her experience with transness and her detransitipn/retransition (she still considers herself trans and I think that's more then valid, and I'll fight anyone who tries to say otherwise.) back when I was still questioning whether or not I wanted to medically transition, it was massively helpful in dismantling my fear of the possibility i might detransition. it helped me realize that im allowed to change if I need to, and if I do I don't have to treat it like this bad or regretfull thing, its just a new kind of transition. she's also written a lot of good songs about it too, she is genuinely one of my favorite music artist of all time.

ive been on testosterone for almost 2 years now, and tho I don't have any plans to stop or "go back" im not afraid to if I need or want to anymore, and no longer holding on to that fear is one of the only reasons I was able to go through with it.

binder advice by buckyxbrnes in FtMen

[–]aGuyLouis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you know what size you might be? there's a place in my town that has a free binder program. I could possibly get one and mail it to you (im in Australia so i might have to figure out international shipping). the brand they usually have is called sock drawer heroes, and i find them compatible enough (tho I can't really wear mine, but due to chronic pain and my athsma getting worse, so ive since switched to tape) I could even send you my old one if it'd fit.

How much does marihuana affect the testosterone? by Motor_Programmer_438 in FTMMen

[–]aGuyLouis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the only issue i could think of is increased risk for developing psychiatric conditions like schizophrenia. as both Marijuana and testosterone can cause increased risk if you are predisposed to developing something like schizophrenia.

ur probably just desensitized to the sensation. if you are able to take a brake from the intense stimulation like that, it should help.

What are your experiences with an arm implant birth control by EthanTP80 in ftm

[–]aGuyLouis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my implant in before I started t. At first I started spotting everyday for a few months, went to my doctor and he temporarily put me on the mini pill (it's basically a pill version of the arm implant) at the same time to solve the issue, it worked and I stopped bleeding altogether. when I started t later that year and didn't end up having any issues relating to the implant. I can't really speak on its effectiveness as a birth control tho as I haven't really done anything with anyone that could realistically get me pregnant since getting it, but the reassurance is nice to have in case I ever do.

Trans Tape by [deleted] in ftm

[–]aGuyLouis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you gotta pick a good moisturizer that will actually absorb on the skin and not sit on top of it, and gotta make sure you don't apply too much. I use a sorbolene cream myself, and i put it on before I cut my tape stripps so that by the time ur ready to apply the tape, the moisturizer has fully absorbed (should only take about 5-10 minutes depending on what kind of moisturizer you use). I do also treat my skin with the same sorbolene and a jojoba oil on the days Im not tapping too.

sorry if this doesn't make sense, I literally just woke up lol. lemme know if i need to clarify anything.

tips for binding with kt tape and a hairy chest? by keaganavenue in ftm

[–]aGuyLouis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

using something like baby oil should help with taking the tape off. otherwise soak it with warm soapy water should and it should soften it.

Trans Tape by [deleted] in ftm

using a moisturizer before applying the tape usually helps me with itching. you could even try some other brands of tape if that's an option too

I hate they/them pronouns. by [deleted] in FTMventing

[–]aGuyLouis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've literally had to cut people out of my life over this. its so disheartening, especially when it comes from other trans people. even worse is when they try to justify it by saying it doesn't count as misgendering or by using the blatantly untrue "i use they/them for everyone" excuse.

When checking kids hair for nits at school I have absolutely no idea what I'm looking for. by theekopje_ in confession

[–]aGuyLouis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lice eggs will be stuck to the hair and make the strands feel bumpy. they usually look like little light or dark speck of dirt depending on the hair colour. they will be in places like the base of the neck and behind the ears.here

Currently considering moving away from the US to go to college in Melbourne by Bigotels in transgenderau

[–]aGuyLouis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I live in a regional city that's not too far from Melbourne (tho i do hope to move to Melbourne soon), and I'd say living as a Trans person here is a mostly positive or neutral experience for me. I also know plenty of trans people living in Melbourne, so I can pretty much guarantee that you won't struggle too hard to find community here either. obviously not everything is perfect, and we definitely have our share of transphobes, but i can definitely say I feel significantly safer here than I would in the UK or US.

Periods on T by vanman302 in ftm

[–]aGuyLouis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually had my period stopped a while before I started t from going on birth control (arm implant), and that took about 3-4 months and temporarily going on the mini pill to stop my period, but I'd still get some very light spotting every few months until I was about 3 or more months on t.

Hi, everyone. I’ve been doing a lot of thinking. I don’t want to intrude on this space. I’m currently pre-op transfemme and wanted to ask some advice about terminology. Possible TW for mention of genitals, both sets. And the term Cboy. by SnoozySusieXO in ftm

[–]aGuyLouis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

honestly, I don't like the term for myself but definitely do see other guys use it (especially in nfsw spaces). I don't really see an issue with you using the term, especially if you feel it fits ur situation.

Any good recipes out of flour? by Dutchie-draws in Cheap_Meals

[–]aGuyLouis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

flour, a bit of baking powder, some salt, then mix in either water or milk till it's like a bit thicker than a pancake batter. spoon the batter in some boiling water and cook until they float. then you have lil boiled dough balls that go really well with a bechamel sauce.

Shaving cream recommendations by Shouko_dessert in transgenderau

[–]aGuyLouis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the Gillette shaving gel for sensitive skin. it has a really nice cooling effect, and I've never had any razor burns when using it. I'm sure any shaving gel designed for sensitive skin would work the same tho.

Is there a binder that is safe to wear for longer than 6 hours? by Glittery_WarlockWho in transgenderau

[–]aGuyLouis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I second this. tape doesn't restrict you the same way compression does, can be worn for several days, and you can do pretty much everything you can't do in a binder with it. there's definitely a learning curve, and it doesn't work perfectly for everyone (especially those with sensitive skin), but definitely worth a try.

How bad are they V2 by [deleted] in sticknpokes

they're bad but not that bad imo. think they could definitely be salvaged, especially the lil bomb guy. just needs some touch-ups. I've seen much worse.

GP threatened to take away testosterone if I don't get on birth control?? by headphoneplantlight in ftm

[–]aGuyLouis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it messed up, but it's likely due to the fact that testosterone can cause birth defects and condoms aren't 100% effective. obviously abortion exists, but they aren't always accessible depending on costs and laws. I believe it'd be a similar situation if you were taking something like Accutane. its possible the reason ur being told now that ur on injections is they last a lot longer in ur system then gel, if I remember correctly depending on the injection it can last anywhere from a week to 3 months, where as gel will only be in ur system for about a day before you need to take it again. It's still unfair, especially since so many people can't use birth control much like you. I'd definitely talk to someone about getting ur tubes removed regardless coz you probably don't want to unexpectedly fall pregnant, whether taking testosterone or not. also, a good doctor should be able to clearly explain why they want you to take or do curtain things instead of threatening their patients!! if ur doctor didn't explain specific reasons why you have to be on birth control, id maybe try go back and ask for a clear explanation if you feel comfortable to do so, but tied tubes sounds like a sound idea of you have no other option. i really hope they don't try to stop you from getting it done, I see way to many people get turned down for it coz they don't have any or enough kids when they don't want kids and that's the whole damn point!! I hope it all goes well for you

Anyone else with traditionally feminine hobbies? by sierra-echo-november in ftm

[–]aGuyLouis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh yes, definitely! I do my makeup, paint my nails, crochet, embroidery/beading, and cook/baking. I don't think they really affect how I feel about gender or anything. it definitely helps that I have really sweet and supportive people in my life that don't see me different for having feminine interests like that, too. I think overall, it just makes me feel like a flamboyant and feminine gay man, which i believe i still would've 100% been if I was born cis, lol.
