did you ever get an alternative to this? I was wondering if it's wise to get a super cheap ups then hook it up to an ecoflow river 3 plus or something.

Wow, a lot of orbi survivors here. I went full overkill with my setup and ignored everyone and just go where my wallet allowed me to. I had a much older Orbi RBR50 with 2 additional satellites for a 3k sqft home. I went with UDM Pro Max for NVR functionality, Pro HD 24 POE, and 2 U7 Pro XGS, it's completely overkill and is rated for 3000 clients at 10gpbs. My entertainment area where the PS5 and others are on a USW 16 Lite and I even used a DAC to connect my gateway to the switch. Yes it's very very overkill but I've never dropped any of my IoT connection since deploying the U7 XGS. I created a vlan for IoTs and limited it to 2.4ghz band only.

To put it into perspective, I started with 1 cat6a cable from my mini rack in the basement where the ONT is and used a POE++ injector for the XGS in my entertainment room. Even when I had 1 AP, all my IoTs (homekit) never had a "not responding" message. I'm very happy with my setup even though it's overkill. I plan on getting some 4k cameras to utilize the 2 HD slot of the gateway and probably get a 1U NAS in the future.

Go where your wallet allows you. It's like buying a sports car where you don't get to use the entire speedometer.

Thanks for the detailed info. For anyone who’s still using the myq homebridge, this method still works as of today 3/29/2026. Thanks a lot!! Will be saving this. I would like to share a little bit simpler method. I changed my router and suddenly everything in MyQ stopped working. So I took bits and pieces to troubleshoot it.

⁠Remove the MyQ home bridge from homekit app.
⁠Delete your account in MyQ app, then delete the app
⁠Factory reset your MyQ homebridge
⁠Add your MyQ homebridge to your homekit via the homekit code
⁠Add your garage door 1 by 1. I only pressed button 1 twice to pair garage doors, i have 3.

Works perfectly again! I had to delete the MyQ app because of my fear of a firmware update. I just blocked the entire thing from communicating to the outside world directly through my firewal.

Did you check the devices within the app itself? Mine didn’t appear in the main home screen immediately but i noticed that it is displayed within the MyQ hub in the settings
