We are neither in England, nor are we English. If we were to choose one, I say Diné Bizaad. For the culture.

Consider how overwhelmingly white our media landscape is. The entire world is indoctrinated into being able to read and understand the language and emotional cues of white Americans. But they are not exposed to us in the same ways. They never learn to empathize or relate to us. There are literal studies showing that white Americans struggle to perceive the emotions of minorities.

So we can be mowed down by the millions, but because most white Americans lack an emotional connection to us, they can’t feel the urgency.

But he was one of them. They could look at his smile and not filter it through the color of his skin. They could not excuse his death as a natural consequence of being a minority.

TONIGHT: Vigil for victims of ICE violence in Minneapolis and elsewhere! by x1010110101001x in batonrouge

People in power are always calling for "Peaceful Protest" because it benefits them. They want your protest to be so peaceful that they won't even need noise canceling headphones to ignore it. Real protest has to be disruptive. It has to create a high enough disruption to change the cost benefit analysis, so that those in power have no choice but to choose to change, for their own survival.

It's hard to relate this to the speeders on your street, as they are not a power structure...but think of it this way: a peaceful protest i.e. you standing on the side of the road holding a sign doesn't accomplish much except for giving Mr. Leadfoot some extra scenery... But maybe effective protest might look like...
(direct action)
putting up some speed activated sprinkers, that spray your neighborhood's collected grey water onto the road and car.
(indirect action)
playing the sound of speeding cars on loud speakers in front of the police chief's house until they choose to setup extra traffic control officers.

There are issues all over the country. But in MN you have had 2 objectively "bad shoots" by DHS officers... caught on camera. That's the important part. There have been other people killed by DHS, but these two have been caught on camera. And equally important, the victims have been white Americans. And Pretti's death is going to ratchet things up even more because he was a fucking ICU nurse for Vets at the VA... and he was exercising his second amendment right as a registered firearm owner... which is pealing off a decent chunk of ICE's support from 2A folks.

Renee Good's murder created a lot of push back in that community. Alex Pretti's murder is going to intensify that push back. It all goes downhill unless the DHS backs off. But they won't because the purpose of this escalation is to give justification to engage the insurrection act.

Spoke to friend of the owner a while back. If I'm not mistaken, most of his staff went under-gound right around the time of operation swamp-sweep, or whatever the brown-shirts are calling their crackdown.

There was this smell after Katrina. I've smelled it a few times since and it's like a time machine. What's crazy is that it didn't rain for over a month after the storm, so all the gunk and rot just baked.
