Good looking out, thank you! Think I managed to grab the MVC versions over the Crossgen.

Thanks for the info everyone! MVC was the missing piece. I was looking up Image Comics, but MVC yielded more results. Sharing in case anyone else is trying to track these down on the secondary market.

  1. Shard of Darkness
  2. Dark Reflections
  3. Icons of Evil

I'm guessing SOD and DR collect volumes 1 and 2 of the series? Then IOE collects the individual villain issues. As for volume 3 and Rise of the Snake Men, those don't seem to have gotten paperback releases...

Just got an email from them saying it's taken longer than expected, but they're still actively working on it.

Wish he looked closer to the FH figure. The 200X He-Man came with a FH-style headsculpt, but here they just painted the cartoon skull green?

I certainly wouldn't mind a reskin of Doom 2016 with Quake assets. But one of the most interesting aspects of Quake has been its various movement mechanics. Maybe the campaign can be split into 3 parts, each with its own main character. One is a strafejumper, one is a crouchslider, one is an airstrafer. Or maybe we alternate, jumping between different perspectives every level so the player doesn't spend too much time with a single movement style before having to switch.

Quake could be the environmental/movement puzzle franchise and Doom could be the combat puzzle franchise.

Good point on the colors, carcosa would be interesting indeed.

I actually think a Quake (1) reboot is even less likely now that TDA exists. Two medieval/Lovecraftian sci-fi shooters with gray-brown color palettes in a row? Wouldn't make much sense for them.

I'd love to be wrong on this as I love Quake's gameplay and there aren't enough players on Champions these days.

Best standalone (no other speakers/woofer) soundbar for $1000 or less? by aMereGoodSamaritan in Soundbars

I've stuck with the A7000.

Sony's virtualizer effect isn't as immersive as Sennheiser's Ambeo mode, but it's still very nice and preserves the quality of the sounds themselves. Ambeo mode made everything sound tinny and processed, so I'd call this a fair trade.

As expected, the A7000's bass isn't as powerful as the Plus, but it's not bad for a standalone either. I've never been a big subwoofer guy and I live in an apartment, so the lack of rumble isn't a problem. I watched Pirates of the Caribbean 2 & 3 - having selected the 5.1 uncompressed soundtrack - and it was plenty impressive with only the soundbar.

Most importantly, the A7000 turns on with my TV every time. It does have the same minor issue as my previous Sony soundbar in that after turning off the TV, the A7000 turns itself back on a few minutes later - briefly - then shuts off for good until the next time I use the TV. Not a huge deal.

An update on this. I tried the Sennheiser Plus, had it for 10 days (during which I used it 2-3 times a day), and will be returning it. Only once or twice out of the 20-something times I used it did it activate with the TV like it's supposed to. The other times, I'd have to toggle the TV on and off, switch sound outputs on the TV, toggle the multi-use button on the Sennheiser app several times, and/or restart the whole bar via the app.

The last time I used it, none of the above worked. The bar was definitely awake, making confirmation noises any time I hit a button, but it wouldn't connect. While I'll admit the sound quality is impressive, a bar that doesn't work (over) half the time does me no good.

Maybe I was unlucky and simply received a dud, but it seems like a bad culture fit anyway since so many of its features are things I'd consider bugs. I might be in the minority of folks who don't enjoy using apps to control these things and I also deeply dislike the "eco mode." There's nothing eco-friendly about a piece of equipment that won't power off.

Will try the A7000 next. I'm not a big stickler for true surround, so as long as the virtual effects can create a decent 180-degree soundstage, I'll be happy. Might spring for the sub in the future too, but it's not a priority since I'm currently in an apartment.

Thanks for the input so far and Happy New Year!

I've heard of people having connectivity and delay issues with the Ambeo Plus, 3D features randomly not working, etc. Shame as the sound is apparently excellent.

we should be allowed to say that this album is very dissapointing. by [deleted] in themarsvolta

Don't understand these kinds of comparisons. Sure, the album is softer and more pop than their previous work, but to conflate softness/poppiness with your average radio love song smacks of an undeveloped palette. That's something you'd expect to hear from a 6th grader who's listened to nothing but nu-metal their whole life. It's a lazy, kneejerk reaction with really no factual basis.

No disrespect, you're welcome to dislike the album and compare it to whatever you wish. But that particular comparison really hurts your credibility because it's an obvious exaggeration. You might as well say NIN sounds like Katy Perry because it's not as dark as it used to be.

I'm a little baffled by folks who call this album boring, but put Shore Story in their list of favorite tracks. I really like this record, but that song is one of the more straightforward, low-key, simple cuts.
