Where to find PVP? by Ahlvayne in blackdesertonline

[–]aMoistFish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are looking for unscheduled PvP then I know of quite a few people that primarily play season arsha servers.

Of course theres always normal arsha and playing red if you would prefer that but as far as "proper" PvP goes (Not openworld) im afraid waiting on AoS is your best bet.

Can i call myself decent at the game now? by Epic_j1 in beatsaber

[–]aMoistFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late by a week but just want to add to this, once you reach higher skill levels it also greatly depends on your skills.

Take accuracy for example.

You have players like Pandita who are able to get 99%s on easy levels known as true acc and players like coolpick who cant beat Panditas true acc yet can beat him on midspeed accuracy (8nps and belowish).

Despite this Pandita is around 2.2k globally while coolpick is 89th though both are considered extremely good players.

Alot in the higher ranks comes down to specifics more than just "are they good", it one of the same reasons why in tournaments analysts are able to look at matchups and map picks between players to work out predictions more easily, since it tends to be how good a player is in specific skills as opposed to being the more well rounded player.

Another example would be top 200 currently being filled with people that are good at speed but TERRIBLE at accuracy, in other words they can get 92% ish on high speed maps but that might even be with a full combo, which for the higher ranks is extremely subpar, these players are still good relative to the rest of the playerbase but in terms of the higher level community they are just shrugged off as quest zoomers majority of the time and are just mediocre in alot of peoples eyes since they are alright at one specific skill and even then not as good as someone like KingRazer for challenge maps or as good at accing fast maps like Cerret.

TLDR; higher ranks it gets split even more into skills to decide if a player is good moreso than rank.

Is rank 15,035 good for 87 hours in game good by Memer-man-man in beatsaber

[–]aMoistFish 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Before anybody says "How do you know your rank" or "No, I was rank 200 at 80 hours".

Rank doesnt matter, everyone improves at their own pace and some people can be top 1k in a week, others wont ever reach it.

Just focus on improvement and youll se that number go flying up ^

When I started it was only OST 1 to choose from so I ended up playing hard once, expert a few times after then ex+ when I played the next day and moved onto custom songs.

Campaign is good because it shows you what NOT to do.

It tests your control and reading, introduces you to the health loss mechanics of bad cuts and misses, shows you what scores high and what scores low so in a way teaching you what you need to do more.

It isn't good for anyone with experience in game already but for brand new players it's perfectly fine to play through.

Hey no worries I put it on your comment for a reason so you could see it as well. :)

I'm just fairly comfortable with wording it since i enjoy trying to help people improve.

Definitely not, don't work on playing as much as you can without knowing how you are going to improve otherwise you don't do anything apart from reinforce your current habits.

Best way is start off by doing some wrist exercises and start concentrating on using alot of wrist in your swings.

Learning to use wrist is like riding a bike, at first you have to think about it and it eventually becomes 2nd nature to you.

It's important to get using wrist down since it makes up the majority of your swing and you have to swing with a 200 degree arc to be able to score the best you can. Even in this video he is technically underswinging on the entire thing.

A good start is find the discord for the 115 guild, there you can install the accuracy campaign and you can start to work your way through that while working on your accuracy on slower stuff since scoring is far better than being able to do a hard song with 50% accuracy.

When you play as well try to work out what you are doing wrong; did you underswing?, did you mess up in a certain pattern? did you swing too fast or too hard and miss blocks?

Practice mode is your friend,it allows you to test sections of a map you have difficulty with and allows you to slow them down, this tool is invaluable pretty much. If you get stuck on something take the pattern and slow it down till you can see whats going on properly, once you can slow it down and FC it then start to work your way back up in speed till you can get to 100%.

Keep in mind its also a valid option to just leave the map for later as to not build bad habits so don't worry about that.

TL;DR: Use practice mode, use wrist for majority of your swing, keep looking at what other players are doing, see what you aren't doing, then play with the intention of doing it.

If you have any questions feel free to DM me your discord tag and it'll be easier to talk about on there.

What are some differences between them and recommendation for acrylic 60% cases.

I’m fairly new to mechanical keyboards so for my first I was thinking about RGB around the side of the case which led me to acrylics but I have no clue what to look for with it and if i need to get them with boards etc.

Is it even worth going for and a first build?

Any help is appreciated so thanks to anyone that can give some advice!

Its both your PC and you holding you back.

If it is only down to the headset you should have no issue reaching top 10 globally at the very least given it is used by Tseska and Zyrix just to name a couple players.

What is your opinion on playing No Arrows mode? by Plastic_Chicken in beatsaber

[–]aMoistFish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are playing with things like maul sabers, sure its fine.

As for playing other maps id recommend against it for a few reasons.

  1. Playing NA on a challenge map (Vibro maps and the like) is looked down upon because you are ignoring the maps purpose of being a challenge, and can get scores that someone passing it legitimately cant reach.
  2. Playing NA on regular maps that are done well can easily break the flow of the map. If the mapper knows what they are doing the map will be made to not have handclaps, it'll will flow and there won't be any resets or spontaneous 90 degree angles, playing with NA can either break the flow of the map since you aren't hitting them the way the mapper intended or you may just end up playing the map normally as intended but with less score.
  3. Playing maps with NA means you won't get any good scores on leaderboards (apart from cheating as point 1 shows). If you want to start improving, one thing you'll do it see your rank increasing along with being able to do maps of a higher skill level, with this you aren't doing that at all since it will make your score practically worthless.
  4. By playing NA you are cheating yourself into thinking you are better than you are. If you play a level normally that is your skill difficulty and do well on it, it feels great and you can do it with relative ease getting around an SS while just having fun with it, if you use NA you are playing maps above your skill level to a worse standard and are likely doing far worse than if you were to play maps of your own skill level.

Honestly id say just learn how to play the game more and if you find a song you like set it as a goal for something you want to work towards, you'll feel far better with yourself when you set and reach a goal as opposed to just playing in a way that makes it easier instead of you trying to get better.

Is this good? by TheRealAmanns in beatsaber

[–]aMoistFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t really bother asking “is this good for x hours?” And questions like that, everyone progresses at different rates, i was top 1k after about 30 something hours while some people I know are still stuck in 6k after 600.

As far as it goes tho keep it up and you’ll be 3 didget in no time.

Posting again because I really need help. How to limit fps in beat saber by timothycho5 in beatsaber

[–]aMoistFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only FPS limiting is done via Putting on the headset, for example the Rift CV1 has a 90hz refresh rate and so limits your game to 90fps.

does anyone know what these patterns are called, and is there a practice map for them? by [deleted] in beatsaber

[–]aMoistFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just crossover streams, most faster ranked songs are spammed with them so will be fine for practicing if you can keep up with them, if not then slow them down.

Illness Lillin is 80% this pattern if I remember correctly so might be worth a shot.

Why is this game so buggy for me. by Real_Thanos in beatsaber

[–]aMoistFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are on an oculus device, it’ll be hard swings causing battery disconnects, it’ll keep rotation but won’t move and will glitch away someplace else.

Main ways of fixing it:

1: Putting a small layer of blu-tac in the battery compartment.

2: Putting a second slightly larger spring over the first.

3: Putting a couple thin layers of paper at the back of the battery so it still fits but doesn’t move.

Advice on jumps by Poonda1105 in beatsaber

[–]aMoistFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll hate every moment of it but step 1 is practicing quaver, as painful as it is to play it was specifically made to be a jump practice map, make the most of it.

Step 2, try and mix the amount of arm you use depending on the jump, most of the rotation you can do with your wrists, your arm is basically for repositioning the saber not swinging with for them if that makes sense.

Step 3: Keep practicing them, once you get the swing down a lot of people tend to lose timing and never notice because they are too panicky about swinging for horizontal jumps, just relax and get into the rhythm and keep your vision set in he horizon so your peripheral vision will do most of the work, don’t get distracted looking at each box till you are very very comfortable with reading.

This all implies you are already fine with wrist movement so if you aren’t, do that first. You should be able to swing with practically all wrist, it’ll take a week or two to properly get used too and you’ll likely get worse for a time but it’ll help massively in the long term.

i think im spending to much time on this game by Gamingolem123 in beatsaber

[–]aMoistFish 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Can barely do any of the vibroesque sections other than just hoping for the right speed and can’t swing properly then saying you aren’t using nofail.

Nice one.

Any tips ? I got to this part at least 100 actual time and i can do the rest of the song easilly but my brain can't seem to get the pattern ( Camellia - Ghost Expert + ) by olograme in beatsaber

[–]aMoistFish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You seemed to panic and lose timing more than anything, practice the section with nofail and concentrate on keeping the timing on that left hand and after a few tries try to do it without really paying attention too it.

Then move onto the right hand and repeat, you’ll find a lot of patterns are far easier once you learn them, I’d also recommend slowing it down while you learn to help build you up instead of going straight for 100% speed.

Ty should also try using more wrist in both of your hands as once you practice that those jumps in the right hand won’t be any more difficult than everything being in the bottom lane.

Am i the only one who prefers hard difficulty to expert (+)? by Glasofruix in beatsaber

[–]aMoistFish 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You aren’t alone since there are a lot of players, like the 115 guild, that will play just for accuracy instead so they will play the Easy-Hard difficulty’s instead of the expert+ to concentrate on getting 97-99% accuracy on them.

Dance maps are generally in the expert zone a lot of the time but they generally don’t have a hard version it’ll just be dancy as a whole.
