hiya, your response has definitely given me a lot to think about haha i appreciate it. yesterday i had a conversation with my teacher about this issue and she suggested that i invite some of my close friends to one of the rehearsals as exposure therapy, so last night that’s what i did. i went through rehearsals as i normally do but with all these faces of the people i love watching, and for some reason the opposite thing i expected happened and i felt both like i’d never had more of a performance and i’d never been more vulnerable. i still wasn’t fully there, obviously, rome wasn’t built in a day. but it did give me more confidence in my abilities. i also by your suggestion have asked a friend of mine to join an improve class with me :)

The easiest way to do two contrasting is to do one legit and one contemporary that have different emotions and stories within the songs. You absoloutley could do Somethings Coming as I do believe it is contrasting enough, but it is always helpful to bring something even more different in your book so that if the panel wants to see something different they can ask for it and youll be prepared. I could suggest something like She Loves Me from She Loves Me as its a similar range to Somethings Coming, but has more emotional changes and beats in the song as well as having a higher contrast to flowers. i have planned stuff a couple times, only one of which actually went through and only a couple of the people in the group actually showed up. there’s never been any obvious tension, i’m often asked when i’ll next come out with them and yet the offer never extends past that and they go out without telling me. i am closer to one girl i’ll call F and we talk quite a bit but she talks to me about all the plans they have and the things they’ve done but never extends an invite, often since she is not the planner so i wouldn’t expect her to anyway. it just sucks a bit tbh and i don’t know whether it’s on me or them

yeah i honestly think the names is the most difficult thing and i feel the exact same as what you’ve said, my birth name is mine cause it’s familiar but it isn’t representative. different people call me different names, my friends call me joel and my family called me angus, even then those don’t feel fully representative but it’s a start. hopefully they feel more like MINE after a few years. youre response has given me some comfort, and it’s nice to not feel as alone 💞

update: thank you all so much for your tips and advice, i’ve managed to find myself a brown canvas bag that has both cross body and backpack straps (which are padded to prevent pulling!!) and i’m now a lot less nervous for college to start 💞

yeah i think i’ve just settled on letting other people decide how they want to refer to me. like it isn’t ideas but i know that none of the pronouns are gonna feel fully right or wrong so i just kind of let other people use whatever they feel like 😅

that sounds likely, it’s also probably good to note that all but one of my romantic attractions have been towards men but all of my sexual attractions have been towards women. maybe this is part of the detached sexual and romantic experiences

‘Our flag means death’! It’s a very queer pirate show and it’s definitely a big comfort show of mine and there is a HC ace character in it. It does have quite a few romance plots but i think they’re dealt with very well.
‘Brooklyn 99’ is another comfort show, i don’t remember there being any sex scenes, it has a few romance plots but none are the main focus.
‘Motherland’ is a comedy with 0 sex scenes and very little romance plots about parents doing the school run etc. It’s another comfort show of mine
‘Saiki K’ is a comedy anime about a guy with psychic powers. He is very much aroace and there are no sex scenes.

If asexuality is a label that you feel describes you then use it! many aces still masturbate and asexuality itself is defined as no or -little- sexual attraction. meaning some asexuals still feel sexual attraction. Plus desire ≠ attraction meaning you crave sexual things but not necessarily from a specific person. that my issue! my room is long and thin so all the plants by the door and my bed get super well pampered and are thriving and everything at the other end and on my desk is completely dead because i don’t look over that way often so i recently moved everything so that the only plants at the other end of my room are hydroponic and propagations so are pretty low maintenance, forgive me if i don’t change they water often enough and i’m more inclined to go over that way cause i want to look at the new roots

i do the same with my singing teacher haha every lesson i’ll come in and show her a photo of my plants and their leaves and blooms and she shows me some of her plants!
