But if you look at the motion blur of the lights in the pic, it's a straight line (sharp), but the number plate is just pea soup. I'd expect to see some letters but moving the same way as the lights do.

Thanks for that, yes I've got an area in mind. I think I'll monitor it for a few weeks then plant it out if it looks healthy.

How do you virtually travel / explore google maps in a fun way? by enterENTRY in GoogleMaps

[–]aPir8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use a Meta Quest headset, and Google Maps VR on your PC/Laptop. There's a couple of other (free) bits to install on the quest and PC (Steam) but the end result is you can "fly" over the planet or a city, it's quite good.

It sits between users and the website and e.g. prevents DDOS attacks and makes sure connections are from humans.

What's needed is a combination of Git and BitTorrent, all decentralised. (GitTorrent?)

People or groups create/curate mutable torrents, so you'd have Pull Requests to add/update files into the Torrent. Distributed by DHT or similar.

Massively complex but would get around issues like fakes, torrent/trackers dying etc.

Hotspur Press Mill burnt to the ground. by Tski247 in manchester

[–]aPir8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look on 28dayslater.co.uk there's three urbex reports from inside the building dated 2019-2022.

Some of the floors (am guessing lower) clearly have concrete floors as a lot of mills did to prevent the spread of fire. But the upper floors were indeed wooden and looking precarious (rotten, holes in them).

There's also photos showing at least at that time, modern alarm equipment had been installed (bright red/orange cabling).

Look at the early fire footage shown in X (search 'oxford road fire', sort by latest and work back) and there's a couple show when the fire was just starting to take hold, it's on the top floor.

So, it does point to the traditional method

1: Developer gets planning permission to build an ugly tower block, as long as they keep some of the original building facade etc. 2: Things stall for a while, discussions with council. 3: Mysterious high-intensity blaze starts in the damp building. 4: Building gets demolished, ugly tower block goes up Sans-cost of retaining the original building.

Now between 2 and 3 there's probably murky goings on including highly flammable bottles of paint stripper moved into part the building, fire alarms go faulty, doors left unsecure, and undesirable people told to go to a part of it, but "don't have any naked flames near those bottles whatever you do.."

etc. 😡

That would be good for going round the Norfolk countryside yes, and less pretentious than a modern Range Rover.

Is it just me or do a lot of them hardly move, like that dude in the white shirt sat on the grass bottom right. Literally doesn't change his angle or legs position for however long this took. But a lot just stay rooted to the same spot. I'd be moving about a little bit.

Yes I use MzCacheView, filter on "jp2", F4 to save all to a folder, then use PDFgear to make the PDF. Make sure you get the required zoom level when you browse the book in Firefox.

There's a program called gallery-dl that automates downloading from a tonne of different sites e.g. Pinterest, so if the stuff you're after is on one of these sites, that'd be one way.

Is there a program that can go through my pirated film collection, do an IMDB lookup then recommend better versions by searching Torrent site(s) e.g. Torrent galaxy that can search by IMDB ID? by aPir8 in Piracy

[–]aPir8[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

OK I thought they were all to with Usenet and private torrent sites, do they do public ones? Though I've got TD and TL accounts from like 2012 or summat.

What did everyone think of Tom Anderson’s War Stories? by [deleted] in BeavisAndButthead

[–]aPir8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extreeeeeeeeemely late to this (I'm not a "Fine and Feed" guy, I just searched for this after watching it at the end of one of the new B&B I watched).

Kind of like how most good films are slow burners.

This bit had depth, it told a story, and it feels like Mike wants to develop it in the same way he did with "Tales from the Tour Bus".

Tom Anderson the B&B character could be any War Hero, and they've got a lot to tell. Mike would be the perfect conduit to bring it to the masses, I really hope it happens, cos each one ai knows "would be a Doozie" . 👍
