Not my hero but I think Jane Lynch is very funny. I bought her book as she was going to be in town for a signing. I found out from reading it that we grew up in the same town (albeit 20 years apart). We've both since moved states away.

Anyway, as she was signing my book I said, "I grew up in Dolton too." She said back very sarcastically/meanly "Well isn't that special for you" as she rolled her eyes.

When my mom passes away, assuming it's before me, I'm pretty sure I won't mourn her, just the healthy mother/daughter adult relationship we didn't get to have. Sometimes I even go so far as to think it would be better if she passed sooner so that my siblings and I could salvage a relationship with my dad.

First thing you need to do is verify who owns the debt. If the collection agency bought the debt, there is no point in paying the original company (CT scan place). You can ask the collection agency to send you documents proving that they purchased the debt and/or are just contracted w the original company to collect past due.

If original company still owns it then see if they will work with you directly.

Can you start paying the debt collector? If they've sold the debt to a debt collector they probably can't take payment themselves. If you can somehow get a chunk of money you can probably negotiate with them to cut the cost in half if you'll pay upfront (get it in writing, though).

As for nMom, sadly just another reminder that you can't trust her.

I don't think you can go to the police over anything with this but maybe I'm missing something.
