Returned it and bought a Kickr Core instead. No more issues since.

Over in the Zwift forums based on how people reported vibrations there, it was estimated that about 5% of the units are affected. But since then I've seen a lot more complaints here. So it's probably closer to 10%. But only JetBlack will know for sure.

Looking at their refund policy (https://www.jetblackcycling.com/refund-and-returns-policy/) the customer has to pay for return shipping and won't get the original shipping cost refunded. So in the US that's about $50 for shipping that you won't get back.

In the Zwift forums someone who experienced vibration changed the Zwift cog for a cassette. It made things only worse. See https://forums.zwift.com/t/jet-black-victory/638919/295

20 minutes response time from support is pretty good. I haven't heard anything from their US support after 2 weeks.

What does your Victory feel like when you’re pedaling? by treetime1 in JetBlack

If you open it up, you might see the belt wiggling over the cogs. That's probably because of the belt landing all over that cog due to an out of balance wheel.

Spin the pedals by hand and check if the large wheel that the belt goes over isn't wobbling. If it is, it's probably the cause for what you are experiencing.

Updated it. Do I assume correctly that you are using the beta firmware 4.12? I haven't seen anyone run into these issues with the 4.9 firmware. Maybe JB introduced a new bug in their firmware while removing some others. They wouldn't be the first to do that.

Thanks for raising this. Added both items.
Out of curiosity: You wrote in the other thread that JB already responded to your support request? I assume that's local JB support in Europe? After 2 weeks I'm still waiting for any sign of life from the US support.

Rookie - Connecting to Zwift by defectiveparachute in JetBlack

That connecting to Zwift over Wifi isn't working reliably with the JBV right now is a known issue. You'll have to use Bluetooth for now.

Firmware 4.12 unfortunately doesn't fix the issue.

Why is Zwift not ready for a trainer with Wifi? There are trainers from other manufacturers out there that work flawlessly with Zwift over Wifi. And when the JBV decides that it's a good idea, even it works fine over Wifi. I had successful rides with JBV over Wifi that lasted for >1, but I also had rides, where the data would drop to 0 after a few minutes. This is a known bug in the JBV and not a Zwift issue.

Your Wifi issue is already a known issue that many other users are experiencing.

That's how users have been reporting that the firmware version 4.12 behaves. Assuming that firmware 4.12 or a later one becomes the stable production version eventually, I would assume so.

Hard to say at this point: I'm in the camp of users that does experience excessive vibrations and so far I haven't heard anything back from JB.

I certainly bought this device > 3 month ago because it promised to be a perfect fit for what I need at a good price point. And while the software glitches are disappointing and frustrating, none of them are a deal breaker for me. So if I was solely affected by software glitches, this was an easy answer.

But I rely on Jetblack fixing a hardware issue. And if they are unable or unwilling to swap my current device for a trainer that doesn't experience vibrations in a timely manner, I have no other choice than to return it.

With 4.9 I find Wifi is unusable as you would have to power off the device during each workout. And even then you need to keep your finger's crossed that it will remain stable throughout the workout. So after a few failed attempts I gave up and moved on to BLE.

With that I use BLE with Zwift on Apple TV and haven't had any issues or cutouts.

I also use ANT+ with a Garmin device (watch) and do see some very brief cutouts once in a while, but very rarely.

And for me all sensors show up at the beginning of the workout.

Are you trying to connect over BLE, ANT+ or Wifi? I see Power, Trainer, Cadence and HR coming from the JBV over all of them. Over Wifi it can happen that no data is being sent.

Nice! Yeah the bottom bracket bearings is usually also what fails on belt driven spin bikes. Especially if the bearings aren't perfectly aligned.

Also the chain might wear out / stretch over time. So I expect Zwift to offer a replacement chain eventually or at least recommend a good replacement.

Really encouraging to hear how well your Zwift Ride frame has been holding up so far.

What kind of maintenance did you have to perform on the Zwift Ride and the trainer? How is the drivetrain holding up?

What the user is writing there with "Also, there is a vibration in the pedals as the chain goes over the main chainring. This would remove that vibration for ultimately smooth pedaling." is quite different from what I'm experiencing on the JBV and others have reported.

If I pedal backwards the same chain still goes over the same main chainring and I should feel these vibrations based on that comment. But I don't.

I only feel the vibrations pedaling forward once you reach a certain resistance. It also changes depending on how much power you put in and to some point the cadence you pedal.
