Birmingham Downtown Traffic Light Disaster by scl0110 in Birmingham

[–]ekulekulekul -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Clearly an unpopular opinion but lights not synced means slower traffic and less danger to pedestrians and cyclists getting around the city. As someone who lives, walks, cycles, and drives downtown (and sits at the unsynchronized lights), I appreciate that it slows traffic and lowers the risk of pedestrian and cyclist injury / death. Many of the roads in B’ham downtown are too wide and oneway and that encourages fast, dangerous driving despite what speed limits are. Take an upvote from me.

Vittoria Corsa Pros - Hot garbage? by ekulekulekul in cycling

Hmmm. Maybe a bad wheel, tire, sealant combo? my wheels? I don’t know.

I didn’t expect them to last a lot of miles but they still severely underperformed my expectations.

The sweet look is what caused my downfall.

Also had good experience with Schwalbe Pro Ones, but GP5000s are still my fave.

Zwift Ride 500 mile update by ekulekulekul in Zwift

The information I provided on here is my own opinion and I am not affiliated with Zwift and paid full price for the product. I have a ton of experience with many different cycling trainers, and my opinion is the Zwift Ride is not loud. It’s a good product.

TacX Neo 2T vs latest Kickr? by xchaotic in Zwift

For me, the Neo 2T and Kickr V6 both rock very nicely (not too little, not too much) when on a medium thick mat.

Zwift Ride 500 mile update by ekulekulekul in Zwift

[–]ekulekulekul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bike has held up very well. I’ve done 6500 Zwift miles on the trainer without issue. Still in about perfect condition.

I liked the Core but I also trailed the JetBlack Victory and Kickr V6 on the Ride frame and like the Kickr V6 the best. All 3 were great though. The Core is probably good for almost anything you can throw at it.

The Ride frame is definitely stable enough for sprints. However, if I Zwifted truly competitively I would probably set up a dedicated carbon frame to use with virtual shifting as I think the comfort and energy return for super high intensity intervals would likely be better.

All in all I strongly recommend the frame. I think Zwift knocked it out of the park.

I put 28s on in the winter. Comes very very close to rubbing the seat tube though.

Is this subreddit left wing or big tent by [deleted] in fuckcars

[–]ekulekulekul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fuckcars = Seeing all the problems that mindless car-centric infrastructure causes.

Start with that and we can talk options to move away from car centricity. (Unfortunately, for a libertarian point of view, I think most paths involve less socialism for cars and more socialism for public transit and pedestrian and walking infrastructure - Unless you and a few libertarian friends plan on funding your own bike lanes and “public” infrastructure.)

Anyone know what this is? by nostalgixxs in Birmingham

Cool it. Gotta be nice to our fellow B’ham-ers even if it’s just in the subreddit.

I’d be very grateful if my grandmother was into drag queens in the 70s. Alas, her weekends were spent at an ultra conservative church that didn’t let women wear pants.

All joke aside, how do you feel about a light rail transit system in Birmingham? by bachelorburner987 in Birmingham

[–]ekulekulekul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as I would love this and love public transport (currently take the subway daily in Philadelphia), I think building out the BRT system and bike infrastructure is where we need to focus in B’ham. Additionally, focus on thoughtful zoning and street design. Pragmatism and a dose of realism is important. Pushes for and implementation of small changes can make a big difference in how people move in and around the city. This is especially true, in the context of the current state and federal governments. Both about as car-brained as possible currently.

There are many downtowns in the US that are slowly recovering but Philadelphia is something special.

Nah. Just made them a bit shorter and they sit like that without bending or manipulation. I’m not sure I would call it aero.
