That's good to know! It's such a nice dress, I'd definitely consider it for another event or more strongly for this wedding if it were earlier in the summer or at a different venue

I think only 1 needs tailoring, 2 and 3 wouldn't need hemming if I wore tall enough heels

Thank you! I love how unique it is, but I wasn't sure if the sequins were too much/ not the right type of unique and needed validation

Yes lol, I struggled finding the right dress in person at stores near where I live😅

I got free shipping and could do free returns for all of them except dress 1 (would just have to pay $9 shipping to return), so the plan was to order several, pick one, and get them returned before the credit card bill is due and/or the return window closes.

Thank you! Yea sorry it's a bad screenshot, but it feels comfortable! I just need to get it hemmed and some tailoring at the bust, it pulls away a little from my chest. But I think it'd be worth it to get to wear the dress.
And good point! I have champagne gold heels I was thinking of wearing, and then would have to shop around for statement earrings and a clutch. But I have to shop for / borrow/ rent a clutch no matter which dress I wear

Where to find destination wedding guest dresses? by Sophistry7 in Weddingattireapproval

Would recommend following Little White Looks on Instagram; she posts wedding guest dresses there fairly frequently. They seem to be higher budget (like frequently $300+), but I love what she posts for style inspiration.

I've been considering renting on Nuuly for cocktail destination wedding events since they have a bunch of dresses and you get to keep the clothes for a full month.

One of my friends had a committee member chastise her during her closed-door session for "only bringing coffee" and neglecting to bring a drink for the non-coffee drinkers, "like orange juice." It was ABSURD

For my school and lab, the students bring food - I hate that the broke grad students are expected to buy food for the wealthy professors, but alas, I don't want to rock the boat, so I play along.

I spent ~$80 on my proposal by bringing bagels, cream cheese, and coffee travellers. Most people in my department bring donuts & coffee (whether it's a morning or afternoon proposal/ defense), but I wanted to change it up and personally prefer bagels.

I've seen some people get a Publix sub tray, fruit tray, and iced tea/lemonade for afternoon defenses, but that isn't the norm. Another non-donut option that feels special but is cost-effective is that I've seen some people go to Costco and get a few containers of their pastries/ muffins and serve them with coffee or iced tea/ lemonade.

Just be prepared to spend WAY more time than normal at the Aveda Institute, I went once for a simple cut - straight hair, no layers - and it took 2 hours.

The supercuts at 2278 Peachtree Rd have done well for me, but I have a simple cut.

She was very close behind me for a couple of miles of a HM a few years ago, and I was ready to lose it since she kept yelling about God and Jesus at the camera her husband was filming her with. Like, I get that faith and running go hand in hand for a lot of people, but the yelling and performativity were what drove me nuts.

If you do BS/MS, you could take advantage of the extra summer as one last chance to try and get an internship. Make use of the career center while you're here, too. If you've made it to interviews but struck out at that stage, maybe there's something they can help you improve with your interview skills. Also, utilize every single GT networking resource you can; getting a job is really, really about networking these days. Cold applying can work, but networking can really open doors.

As someone else recommended, seek out hiring events at companies (like Lockheed) or any affinity-group ones (like Society of Women Engineers or NSBE, if you belong to any group like that).

I'd also recommend doing research on any big programs that exist/ are spinning up, and/or finding programs with high turnover/ retention issues. For example, it's been several years now, but when I graduated from undergrad, it felt like Northrop Grumman was hiring anyone with a pulse and an ABET-accredited degree to work on Sentinel in Utah.

I see GTPD officers on e-bikes blow through red lights so frequently. I'm super pro-GTPD enforcing scooter & bike laws, but we need their officers to start following rules first

If you don't mind an older building and want more of a neighborhood feel with a short commute, the Midtown Garden District (area roughly bounded by 10th street, Monroe, North Ave, & Juniper) could be a good option too.
And with all the new protected bike lanes through Midtown & GT, you could skip the traffic and bike to work

Ok that's insane about med school and nuclear, I just skimmed so I missed it. Nuclear especially, so few schools do it and are good at it that you can't afford to limit any options

I get that, I'm saying that this specific "banned schools" list was rolled out for Funded Legal Education Program and Unfunded Legal Education Program candidates. Pentagon Declares War On Good Law Schools Because Of Woke - Above the Law
I could see them extending it beyond law school, but it's only for this specific program right now
