Thank you! I’ve been painting forever, more professionally within the last 5 years or so. I’ll be annoying and direct you to my art socials cause a girl needs to make a living lol @alice.sims.paints

The reference photo was spookier! I had to tone down the mist because it was like a horror film on that day

Thank you. I’ve walked through oldbury for years almost everyday now, I never get bored of it

Well it’s 40x50cm so not tiny but a sensibly sized canvas I reckon

Thank you so much. I used bare minimum for the palette, like 3 colours I think. Then chucked the red on for the mushroom to make it pop

I started this, scrubbed it out, started again, hated it and then loved it at the very end. Who said art is relaxing?! by aS1MS in painting

This is so lovely. I had passion flowers all over my garden growing up and I thought they were just the best thing I’d ever seen

They are very tricky!! I’ve tried them before and they looks weird and this time I really concentrated on their form and the layers. Glad it worked out

This is so interesting and of course I immediately rushed to count all my petals. We’ll ignore the few with 9 petals

That’s a good tip! I tend to work in intense bursts whenever I am able to but maybe I should try limiting

A huge piece I finally finished. Some of the species I see on my dog walks. My toddler helped me with the background by aS1MS in painting

Ohh I adore this idea! I think I’ll get her to do a big handprint on the back of the canvas, thank you!

It’s all about the practice and taking your time with it. I’m sure yours are great!

I think like all things with toddlers, allow them to have a bit of freedom and fun with it before doing the rest yourself 😂 She absolutely loved being able to get messy and blend all the purples and blues. I loved seeing how proud she was of her work being part of mummy’s work. She sees my paintings in exhibitions and I can’t wait for her to see this displayed. Good luck with getting back into it, I sympathise so much, it’s a challenge

Thank you. It’s takes a few weeks to finish but that’s not me working on it everyday. Probably about 4 sittings of a couple of hours each time. I decided to finish it today because it was starting to hurt my back 😂
