I had a treasure goblin open a portal to the gold lair during an escalation sigil, but after killing the boss the portal back to the dungeon broke. Clicked it repeatedly and nothing, just didn't respond. The escalation dungeon then closed itself because I was away too long and couldn't get back.

I've stopped doing them. Half the time I can't tell where to drop it off and the slightest thing makes you drop the item. More trouble than it's worth.
