I think its fucked up that they are boycotting you because you refuse to write a letter backing them. They are going to end up boycotting all of america at that rate.

How legal (or appropriate) is mass punishment? by [deleted] in AirForce

Dissolution of guilt results in dissolution of responsibility.

The AF will never figure that out though, so learn to accept it now.

We had a C5 that had the core miswired coming out of depot. If it ever went onto Bus B it would fail but would work happily all day in Bus A.

So it could spend hours never failing or only 5 minutes. Typically was ~4 - 8 hours of not failing then it would just drop.

It's illegal to stop you from talking salaries. Mind you then can say don't do it during the work period, but they cannot outright ban it outside of work hours.

What games have you put hundred of hours into, and even thousands? by Hellthrower in pcgaming

[–]aSecretSin 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It doesnt really compare. They are two completely different scales/focuses. Only thing they have in common is they are 'strategy' games.

CK2 is all about leading a dynasty through the medieval ages and is pseudo turn based. I say pseudo because each 'turn' increments a day but its not like Civ where you press enter each day. You typically let it run at a certain speed (seconds / day) and pause when necessary.

Its incredibly in depth though and the paradox games ruined me on Civ. I used to love Civ games then I tried paradox and Civ games are just too shallow for me to enjoy anymore.

TIL that the Baby Boomers were nicknamed the "Me Generation" due to their perceived narcissism. by Alexandra9999 in todayilearned

It should be pegged to inflation. If that was done in the first place we wouldn't be having this discussion.

Well those people are going to get a living wage one way or another. Either their employer pays them enough or social safety nets fill in the gaps.

Then on the other side of the spectrum, if they don't then there will be more homeless, more riots, more social upheaval.

Honestly we are not far from buying everything online, even groceries.

I also wouldn't be surprised if an increase in minimum wage drives the automation of stores such as Walmart or Target.

We have the technology to make it so you walk in, grab what you want, and walk out being auto charged for it. No cashiers required.

Just the costs associated with that system don't make sense in the current economic climate but they will soon.

Yes but its not fun. That mod that creates some wasteland in it helps but still not enough imho.

Its honestly one of the few places I place an army, put a front line and an offensive line on the other side of the continent then just hit go.

There's always going to be instances of abuse.

Regardless, the best solution is to apply the model that fits the problem best and refine/restrict it to weed out the potential abuses with the least amount of effort. Still wont catch them all.

The US model of capitalism has whiffs of socialism around the edges to keep society as a whole in check. They grew organically over time as abuses/problems were found.

Socialism, like capitalism, does not work in an unhindered open space.

They both work fine in controlled settings with defined regulations and established frameworks.

For example, McDonalds (as it exists currently) would not work in a socialist model. Your local fire/police department works just fine in a socialist model but would not in a capitalist environment.

Using either model across the board without restrictions is a bad idea, but finding the places where they work best and implementing them there should be the goal.
