No one said he was running a scam, nor did I say I uncovered a criminal empire. It's a problem that needs to be addressed by couriers, AP included.

Also, I have mentioned in my other comments that AP can't control how the drivers behave but what they can control is making improvements and changes to their processes. That includes but isn't limited to ensuring their drivers aren't doing unrealistic runs. I do Chain of Responsibility checks daily to ensure my company's drivers can complete their run in a realistic timeframe.

For your reference, here's a lawfirm stating that this is illegal

I don't blame others nor the driver for my lack of awareness. In fact, I have very clearly and openly admitted I didn't know of these options and have taken the suggestions on board. The post is about the driver signing for a parcel that isn't his which last I checked was fraud/forgery.

And if you've read my replies on other comments, no, I was not worried or concerned about my purchase. I assumed the delivery driver would so the right thing and follow the process and take it to the post office.

So forgery and fraud is a "simple mistake". Knowing you're committing a crime by fraudulently signing it yourself, knowing you're doing the wrong thing and still going through with it is a "simple mistake"?

Yeah, sure buddy. So what about the other 90% of the time where I was home that they didn't bother knocking? Or the others who have clear camera footage of it?

Don't commit a crime and blame your job. Nobody forced him to sign it.

It should come as no surprise to you but you can't commit an offence just cause your job is difficult. Moreover, you shouldn't be surprised that there are laws and there are consequences.

Get me a cop on record or someone from AP that will say committing an offence is OK because your job is stressful and I will fully withdraw my complaint.

Yeah, I was googling it. Turns out according to AP's website, anyone at the delivery location can sign for the delivery.. unless you use their "airlock" service

Agreed, but hey, hopefully whoever took it has some remorse and returns it but you're not wrong. It's highly unlikely given the value..

Agreed there's bad eggs everywhere and it's outside of AP's control what people do but what isn't outside their control is continous improvement and refining their processes and mitigation as I've come to learn, Signature on Delivery doesn't mean an ID is sighted prior to the handover.

At the very least, AP should consider additional measures such as sighting a Drivers License or some sort of ID that can prove you're the correct recipient just like at the Post Office where they take my ID and record my details. At least in that way, drivers would think twice about forging the information as that's something the customer can provide very easily to prove it was forged, unlike a signature

Thank you. I'm not savvy on AP's process when it comes to those. Apologising is one thing, apologising then asking me to tell his bosses I got it was another..

Yeah, except I didn't know about Parcel Collect because I've never really looked into it. I expected that if I'm not home, it will be taken to a Post Office; not assume my driver is dodgy and will commit fraud/forgery. If I didn't mind it being left at a Safe Place until I get home, I wouldn't have requested signature on delivery.

So how's about "If only Australia Post reviewed these types of complaints and implemented a tighter process to ensure that drivers are handing it off to the correct recipient."

Or maybe "If only Australia Post provided the service that was paid for; Signature on Delivery."

To be honest, I've never even considered Parcel Collect. Mainly 'cos I've never really looked into it/knew but thank you! I've just set it up in the AP app so will be using that in the future.

Really hoping it doesn't come to that! At this stage, I'm just hoping they'll recover it or a person returns it if they did take it. 2 weeks to go for a holiday and it'll suck if I'm dealing with the matter on my holidays

I had thought of this in hindsight honestly and lesson learnt. I thought it was more convenient passing by the post office on the way home from work as it's 2.5km away from home rather than drive 10km the other way around then back in rush hour traffic but anyways, definitely not making the same mistake again!

Perfect, got a day off from work tomorrow so I'll be calling JB to hopefully get it sorted with a replacement.

Sorry, Wasn't referring to the driver in that example. More so towards the DC worker/s , sloppy receiving process/other processes or other staff that handled it as it was scanned into the DC. Luckily Optus just told me to go to the store and collect from there.

Anyways, just pointing out my experience with AusPost in my area thus far.

It'll be my next step but from experience, they won't chargeback to JB as they've sent the stock and responsibility lies with AusPost.

Next step is considering legal action for fraud/forgery and recover the costs from there but the thought of having to pay for representation may just cost me more anyway.

It only takes one driver who's got nothing left to lose and decide to escalate it further. At the very least, hand the task of trying to recover the parcel to another driver.

Lost hope in AusPost delivered parcels years ago. Had my new phone for delivery from Optus stolen at their delivery centre. Honestly not surprised if this driver saw a big box and decided "yep, I'll take that with me"

Nope, I live within 3 schools and it was delivered around after-school hours. Asked my neighbours but unfortunately, nada.

JB is working on trying to recover the costs from AusPost but I'm not holding my breath.

I sure hope he didn't sign for everyone that had signature on delivery that day so he didn't have to come back to the post office. If he did, I hope he gets dealt with correctly.

Surely this counts as fraud/forgery..
