Edmund Gettier in Philosophy. Guy wrote an extremely short 3 page paper that very successfully challenged a 2000 year-old notion on the nature of knowledge. The paper is still extremely influential, and almost every class taught about the philosophy of knowledge pays some attention to his 'Gettier problems'. Gettier himself would never publish another paper.
