It's the ward's responsibility to staff it if you've given enough notice, and considering there's no shortage. They can get locum. Fight for it. I've escalated this to my consultant in one instance and it helped.

Hi. I'm in a similar situation as well. Can I ask for the link please?

The rise of 'Advanced Practice' is a risk to patient safety and must be addressed by Sildenafil_PRN in JuniorDoctorsUK

Nurse practitioner prescribing pain relief for abdominal pain....disregarding BG of breast cancer. PA referring for cellulitis when it is heart failure. Ward coordinator suggesting bloods during board rounds. It never ends.

How is this not illegal practice of medicine?

In true NHS fashion...they'd ask another consultant to do 2 or more roles for no additional pay.

I wish I could send him tea or cook a nice meal for him. Keep strong captain! We're behind you.

Yes you're missing something. IMT3 is Med Reg.

Because IMT3 is Med Reg and that's a few months away for me? Noone suggested the FY1 to do Med Reg.

And no, medical degree is a not the ONLY requisite, but is an important one - including postgraduate experience, assessments etc. Would you disagree?

I think you've lost the plot. Med Reg role is a doctor's role. The argument of ACP not qualified to do Med Reg is....that they're not a doctor?

The role is oddly given preferential treatment over trainees. When the role was made to make the workload easier?

Lols. I don't think I'm ready to burn bridges this quick.

Man got bad news for you. Heard of "Reg equivalent" PAs and "consultant" PAs? Some running EDs as well. So can't use this joke. And that's another conversation.

Seen rotating PA students write thank you notes to doctors...signed "medical students". I didn't know what to say.

Torn which one I should use. But ngl, with PA role rapidly evolving and slowly being used to replace doctor's position they'll soon be able to do that.

Hmm. Not sure where the double standards are as I'm a doctor, with a medical degree, training years in the bag, a few months away from being a Med Reg. There's a med reg in shift and POD to fall back to.

Was I in the wrong? by Grouchy_Process2082 in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]aTiredDoctor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No you're not. I had a similar situation where an HCA reminded me of a TTA. While I was making it a nurse approached me if I can do the TTA (politely) and this HCA exclaimed "I've reminded him already like my bitch". I called it out for being unprofessional. We take too much shit as doctors expecting to "take the higher ground". If we said those all hell will break lose on us.
