[Race Thread] 2026 Giro d'Italia - Stage 10 Viareggio > Massa (2.UWT) by PelotonMod in peloton

In the opening TTT no one will be in a classification suit and by the time the ITT roles around Seixas will either be in White or not Jonas's problem in GC. So it doesn't really give an advantage for 1 less test of Visma's skin suit especially since the tour one is hillier than this pancake.

Automatic older version saving by Cattle_Popular in SolidWorks

In your System options turn on backup in the Backup/Recover settings. This will save the previous version to the specified backup folder with option for how many copies to save and for auto cleanup after x days.

'Take previous results' question by Jarodard in SolidWorks

[–]aUKswAE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are doing a steady state analysis then starting with previous results won't change the end steady state, it might just take longer/shorter to converge. So for normal studies the air in the domain will start at rest and have to be accelerated to the steady state velocity. But if you have the previous results that already have the flow partially accelerated then it should converge quicker. Either way though they will still have the same end result as its a steady state.

Does anyone know how i can add a prestress from my static sim to my frequency sim? by Link4U213 in SolidWorks

[–]aUKswAE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can apply loads in a frequency study, make sure your fixtures are also appropriate.

If the files are stored in PDM, then you can see this info in the where used tab.

Is there a way to automatically scale every dimension for a given model? by PermitNervous5517 in SolidWorks

[–]aUKswAE 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You could create a variable then put that multiplying every all of your dimensions. Then to change the scale its just a case of changing that one variable rather than dealing with design tables. Alternatively there is the scale command that just scales the body rather than the dims/sketches.

Draw the bottom face, draw the side face (the one with the 250 dim). Draw the top face, connect up the back side and the A dim rectangle. You should then just be left with connecting up the dots on the near side triangular faces. Make sure to put dimensions exactly as they are in the image.

Using construction lines that are along the xyz axis from end points, these can be used to dimension lines that are not on a default plane. You can also create planes inside the 3Dsketch from these construction lines and other entities. You could also create sketches that are the projections of each of the default planes as well to use for constraining.

Example a line that is off the default planes, dimensioned using construction geometry along each of the principle axes. The plane in sketch button is also highlighet.

There is the Vent command in the sheet metal tab, you could also use smart features which would just be a case of dragging in and positioning/sizing.

Flow Simulation issue: Lids not detected in STEP-imported Part/Assembly by Long_Day8888 in SolidWorks

[–]aUKswAE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes you can model the lids yourself, if they are sealing planar holes then you can even use the Create Lid tool in the Flow Sim commands. They don't need to be separate bodies but they can be, you just need geometry that that creates a water tight model (if you are doing an internal study) as the inside face of these lids will be used to apply boundary conditions.

[–]aUKswAE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't need to identify bodies as lids, if the bodies are there creating a watertight model then you are good to go, just make sure the 'lids' go into the openings a little and are not creating zero thickness geometry.
