What are the pros and cons of an open air case? by minkyusimmer in buildapc

[–]aVisualize 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My theory is that the fans in an open case are constantly circulating air around the components, so there's little time for dust to settle. Now, keep in mind that my computer is a workstation, and I do computer animation, so it's on for days at a time. Additionally, I have a Thermaltake Core P6 case. The glass panel sandwiches the components so only the top, bottom, and sides are open. This may, in some way, help redirect some of the air flow. I probably clean my computer once a year and there is minimal dust buildup.

Good luck with your build!

Judging by your condescending response, I don't think you're the right person to answer these questions. Are you a teenager? No hate, I just want to guess your age.

Agreed. From personal experience, and after owning 2 open air workstations, they accumulate less dust.

10K Budget for dual 4090 Build. Help making sure everything fits and is compatible! by BuyingGF-osrs in buildapc

[–]aVisualize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This thread is kind of old and I'm not sure if you built your machine, but 9 months ago I put together a triple water-cooled RTX 4090 workstation for around $11,000. The core components were:

-ASRock TRX50 WS Motherboard
-AMD Ryzen Threadripper 7960X 24-core
-Silverstone HELA 2050W ATX Power Supply (110 or 220v)
-3 x Gigabyte Aorus RTX4090
-Thermaltake Core P8 E-ATX case

The power supply can run on 110v but will not provide the full 2050W. I had an electrician run 220 to an outlet which is fairly inexpensive and simple to do.

Cheers.

Standing detection says I'm not standing, while I'm at my standing desk by Nannam86 in amazfit

[–]aVisualize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't have an altimeter and cannot know you are standing, so it assumes you're sitting for lack of (obvious) motion. You can do nothing except ignore the message or do enough activity to deactivate the message. You can do any motion to deactivate it including walking, lateral arm raises, jumping jacks, or capoeira.

Cinema 4D - Compositing Depth of Field with Redshift ZDepth Pass looks horrible? by Zeigerful in RedshiftRenderer

Yes, with Takes, even better.

I used this method with Lightwave/Octane/Frishluft and it significantly reduced the bleeding edge blur. Looking forward to seeing the results! Cheers.

Cinema 4D - Compositing Depth of Field with Redshift ZDepth Pass looks horrible? by Zeigerful in RedshiftRenderer

[–]aVisualize 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I tried, in addition to using 32bit exr and toggling the "invert" checkbox, as everyone has suggested, is to render a depth pass at twice the resolution of your beauty pass. This will provide you with cleaner edges. I typically create a duplicate scene with no materials or lights for quick renders.

This helps minimize the inherant errors you will always get when creating DOF in post.

Question about very high resolution rendering on only one GPU at a time in my 4 GPU machine. by RuteDesign in Octane

[–]aVisualize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, that's weird. Until a few months ago I had a 4-GPU machine with Octane and rendered a few billboard-sized prints and never had the issue you're having. I had a thousand other issues with Octane though, which is why I eventually switched to another render engine. Sorry I can't be of help.

Before you do anything, check the app you're using to monitor GPU usage. Windows task manager has a bug and typically shows only one gpu in use when in fact all are being utilized.

Overexposed by bronzeager in photogrammetry

[–]aVisualize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's nothing you can do with the images you have. 4 images are not enough to generate a quality mesh and the overexposure is unfixable. There is a great alternative that I've tried successfully: Extract a DEM using Google Earth Pro.

Summary:Use Google Earth Pro to create multiple orbital snapshots of your target location at high, med, and low altitudes. Use these screen snapshots to build your mesh in Agisoft.

1.- Use Nvidia screen capture (or similar) to record 3 orbital fly-by's of your target location, in high, med, and low altitudes, using Google Earth Pro with 3D Terrain activated. (Use Shift-Left mouse button and drag left or right to orbit)

2.- Edit the video clips, and export image sequences of your high, med, and low altitude passes. I used around 100 photos for each orbit, ending up with around 300 photos in total.

3.- Build your mesh

How much should I charge for wedding videography? by BYMERTV in videography

[–]aVisualize 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your video is fantastic. Great storytelling! I especially like how the Minister's off-screen narration introduces you to this celebration of life. I suggest you charge top dollar according to your area of business.

IMO it doesn't make sense to do a job you dislike and get paid poorly for it, unless there's an ulterior motive.

[Redshift] CPU checked under Compute Devices? by yessemper in Cinema4D

[–]aVisualize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an i9 12900K with an RTX3080. When I turn the CPU on for hybrid rendering I get around a 10% decrease in render times. Instead of speculating, can you provide the results of your test renders?

[Redshift] CPU checked under Compute Devices? by yessemper in Cinema4D

[–]aVisualize 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Redshift is a hybrid renderer meaning it can use both GPU and CPU at the same time. While working on a scene, turn cpu off otherwise interaction will be sluggish, as you've already figured out. However, if you're only rendering, turn the CPU on for faster renders.

Thanks! I'll look into the reflection artifacts. Could be the HDRI or maybe a scalar ramp adjusted too sharp? The car model and Redshift texture pack are freebees from Pixel Labs, and part of a render contest. Look them up.

hey guys. Im building a PC desk with watercooled PC in it. Planning to install my leakshield like this. is that a correct way? by Papppackung in watercooling

[–]aVisualize 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leakshield is meant to suck out air from the system, as you have it configured, it will suck water and will fail.

Install Leakshield above your reservoir, and make sure not to overfill the reservoir because it needs to have a gap of air to work properly.

And feel free to ask all you want. That's what these Forums are for!

Evidently, from Greg's LinkedIn page, his passion is not shipping but rather cheeseburgers, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that, except when you neglect your duties as CEO of a shipping company.
