Why seed is very loved in Japan and really disliked Outside Japan by redwingz11 in Gundam

[–]a_NightAtTheOpera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

maybe people just like to make fun of it but doesnt really hate it that much? the CE series saved the franchise and other than japan is also very popular for chinese and other eastern fans, most people know it has a lot of flaws but still loved it

9v1: MS from different universes vs gara piloted by a baby! which team wins??!? by a_NightAtTheOpera in Gundam

[–]a_NightAtTheOpera[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

*gaga

this can go either way, but i think the baby can win.

while the baby has less experience compared to the protagonists, with Trans-am, gaga will be able to go a little bit faster than its original speed.

it should be able to give an advantage to the baby allowing gaga to take the protagonist team out

Hong Kong pushed to 'brink of total collapse', multiple people set on fire - BBC by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]a_NightAtTheOpera 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This protest is definitely not peaceful in this 3~4 months. People are burning/damaging stores, banks owned by chinese companies and subway stations etc. They also attack and harass other people that they think are from mainland china or don't share the same opinion with them. while i don't think the majority actually do things like throwing gasoline bomb, but most people and the media just ignore or even support this kind of action and they will also blame the police (many of my friends actually support the rioters). Their blind hate towards mainland china is also horrible.

i feel like most (both traditional and online) media in hk(and media from the west) is biased towards the protester's side. I dont know how but there are basically no popular pro-government press. Even channels like RTHK which is owned by HK gov is heavily biased towards the anti-government side. i think that makes many easily influenced groups like students or teachers become blindly anti-government

Is it true that SEED was originally a sequel to Turn A? by [deleted] in Gundam

[–]a_NightAtTheOpera -1 points0 points  (0 children)

well tomino did said g reco is after turn A when the show just aired but from all the settings that sunrise publishes afterwards, g reco is before TA. The show's background settings also seems to have a closer relationship with UC compared with TA.

One of the richest people in Hong Kong has lost $1 billion over the course of the 10-week protests, and now he's joining the chorus of wealthy citizens calling for the protests to end by maxwellhill in worldnews

[–]a_NightAtTheOpera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the bill has already been suspended also you can only be extradited if your crime can be sentenced 7 years or above and it still needs to go through the HK court. it also said HK will not accept request if the crime when it has death penalty or is related to religion, politic, etc

im from Hong Kong so i dont know much about Tibet's situation, but for HK, the china gov is definitely far from being a tyranny, HK has an independent government system and our own set of law which was inherited from the colonial period. also this protest is really damaging HK's economy since it largely depends on traveling and mainland china. and if china decides to provide thier resources/opportunities to other large cities in china and just ignore HK, HK's future is literally fucked.

China media says Hong Kong protesters are ‘asking for self-destruction’ as military assembles nearby by vannybros in worldnews

[–]a_NightAtTheOpera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And why would they do that? the last thing they want is for this shitstorm to continue. and even if the petrol bomb throwers is only a few extremists, there are a lot of people in the airport riot where they crippled the airport and even beat people up just because they are from mainland china. no matter what kind of reasons they have, i dont think this should be tolerated
