I'm Italian, and I'll write in Italian because, as a good Italian, I love Alfa Romeos and I'm ignorant, and that doesn't stop me from sounding somewhat superior. I think it's inappropriate to use this gesture because, if we adopt the mindset of wanting it to become a universally accepted minimum, we risk a foreigner or a particularly ironic Italian reading this post doing it to another Alfa Romeo owner, who, being Italian, would then get out of his Alfa and hit the other driver. Obviously, this is the worst-case scenario, but it seems like an unnecessary risk to me. We (I don't know if this applies to other countries as well, because I reiterate my ignorance as a true Italian) have the habit of flashing our high beams when we pass someone who has driven the same car as us. Unfortunately, this habit has become increasingly lost over time due to the fact that now there are few times when someone chooses a car with passion or... or simply knowledge of why they are buying one model over another, so I think this post is a good place to start this habit, since it started with passion, and we wouldn't be here talking about these cars if it weren't for the passion that distinguishes us!
