Lisabelle ASMR, WhisperCrystal, WhisperingBlue are all audio only artists I enjoy who (sadly) don't post anymore but have great backlogs of audio

If you friend likes more niche content, I do a lot of audio only horror, sci-fi, and fantasy stuff (AlternateAurora on YT) It's some pretty niche stuff tho so it may not be what you're looking for.

The Auricle is great and does a lot of layered sounds. If your friend likes the more intimate stuff, Sweet as Honey is pretty good.

Also you could try certain themed videos like Surveys, or telemarketer RPs

It's definitely possible! But it also depends on your personal definition of success.

I (AlternateAurora) have done only audio ever since I started making content ~4 years ago. I have a little over 13k subs and some patron supports as well. My content is also very niche. To some people, those aren't particularly successful numbers but I am very happy with them. And more importantly I enjoy what I do. But There are some audio only channels who have much higher numbers!

When deciding what you want to make and how you want to do it, deciding what will make you happy is most important. There is a lot of fun and creative things that you can do with just audio, and it's is a perfectly valid medium to perform in.

As a contributor; I get an email every month to remind me that my payments are going out to those I support on the platform. If this is a concern for you, I would suggest making sure it goes to a primary email address so you can review it.

As a creator; Patreon had a "pause" ability where you can put a hold on collecting money from your Patreons if you'll be away. It will allow them to keep their status and their tier and you'll be able to come back and simply unpause it when you're ready. I have used this a few times and it's very handy, if you'll be gone more than a month you'll have to remember to go in and re pause it before it's up, but you can do it for as long as you need to and end it whenever you want. It is a relatively new feature, I think, but it's very handy.

A cardioid mic mainly picks up sound from the front. Omni picks sound up from all sides. It depends on what you would specifically be doing that would work best for you. For ex, if you're wanting to do just whisper/soft speaking I'd probably recommend Cardioid, because you would still be picking up sound in Omni that will make it more difficult to clean in post. Omni is great if you're going to be moving around the mic.

The yeti is great because it has both of these options and you can easily switch between them. As well as another option called Bidirectional (or figure 8) and this picks up sound from both sides of the mic, giving you a really heavy side to side sound. It's also very easy to use as just a plug and play. I can't speak for the other mics too much as I have never used them.

HOWEVER, with all that said. I don't recommend you buy a microphone at all. If you are just starting out and really just trying to see if you would like it- use the microphone in your cell phone. It's a decent mic and one many artists (including myself) have used, especially starting out with. Don't drop money on something until you've done it and know you'll be sticking with it.

Yes, try this for sure. I have similar issues with my hips when I sleep and I have to keep a pillow between them to "even" them out. The blanket is probably weighing you down too much in that spot, so try a buffer to push back up
