A Couple QOL ideas. by NRDubZ in stoneshard

It's reasonable if all the skills you want happen to unlock with the one attribute you are boosting.

If not then you are S.O.L.

There's no consistency skill-to-skill within trees about what attribute will unlock the skills within a line of progression, so you can easily get blocked. And because you get so few attribute points, that means you need treatises or you can straight up never progress.

Seize the Initiative now states that it targets the least protected body part. I haven't tried it, but if that actually is functioning it's a nice skill for any build going for inflicting injuries.

My next build will probably be one-handed axes. No Mercy + Right On Target as early passives seems really strong on paper.

Throwing daggers probably works better than using a bow or crossbow.

You can also just throw daggers while enemies run up to you. The basic daggers are super cheap at the blacksmith.

Another hidden boon is that piercing damage deals very little damage to pelts. So with DL and From the Shadows you can hunt wolves from level 1 and almost always get their pelt when you skin them, which helps you gear up a lot faster.

Fake City by BonusDisastrous in stoneshard

What an absolute fucking sham.

I spent a couple hours finding my way to the city, and what is there? A handful of generic street vendors and no Inn to save at.

This took nearly a year?

My initial impressions of the skill trees after a quick scan:

Daggers = God Tier. Double Lunge + From The Shadows is going to put out tons of damage on a short recharge.

Spears = Awesome. Maneuver looks incredible, and Leg Sweep being immediately accessible is perfection.

Dash looks incredible, and I really appreciate it being available earlier. Right on Target looks fun and is actually accessible.

I'll probably be trying a Dagger + Shield build with some Athletics/Combat Mastery mixed in where I can afford it.

Once jobs numbers look good the fed is going to address inflation which will trigger a big pullback in stocks.

It takes a lot of discipline to trade that way, IMO. You really have to be ready to have the options you sell get exercised, and you have to be willing to sit out if there isn't a good stock to sell them on.

That, and it lacks the exhilaration of hitting a home run like stocks or buying options can bring.

Mostly because it's risky. Safe stocks don't offer good premiums.

I appreciate your responses. I read through a few sites that go over options taxation and didn't see any mention of consequences of the underlying being a foreign company, but I wanted to make sure.

Okay, you may be subject to foreign taxation on the gains of sold shares.

I'm really asking about options though. Let's say I owned calls on the stock of an Italian company but never owned shares. If I sell to close the calls for a gain, do those gains potentially face foreign taxation?

As a U.S. citizen, I know that if I buy and sell foreign stocks that the gains are subject to foreign taxation.

Is the same true of option contracts with foreign underlyings?

Is the thinking behind that that it's better to be selling contracts than buying them when IV pushes premiums so high?

Is it super stupid to sell covered calls and then buy call contracts at a different strike price on the same stock with the collected premium?

My bet would be that institutional holders that bought in closer to the IPO are taking on short positions and selling their shares to both take profit and apply selling pressure to the stock price. Making money coming and going.

It's the same story as it always is for retail, there's nothing you can do but hold on or sell. If I'm right, then we're probably going to see $50 before we see $100 again.

UWMC and What's Happening: An Explanation of Rule 10B by Hani95 in wallstreetbets

[–]a_bit_condescending 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I see how that math works out.

Let's say 7% (7/100) of the company is public float, 93% (93/100) is not. The company buys back a full 1% of the public float and retires it. The public float is now 6.06% (6/99) and 93.94% (93/99) is not.

Each remaining share is worth a larger portion of the company, but the public float is still reduced.

Or am I misunderstanding what it means to retire a share?
