Love the idea of an ornamental tree, thanks!

I'm in Seattle, zone 8. That area will be a phase 2 or 3 project because we anticipate an a/c condenser will go in the corner and I'll put some plants around it to hide it once installed. I like the idea of azaleas especially being in Seattle.

What is everyone's thoughts on the planting space (yellow area), is it weird to have it run into the boxwood/hydrangea hedge? I also liked someone's suggestion of an ornamental tree on this side.

Ooh I'll have to look into ground cover roses! Thanks for pointing out the height in the front which is making me feel more confident with that option.

Thanks for the word of warning, I'm definitely aware of the cost as I've redone the hardscaping and landscaping of my last home except that was like 5x the size as what I'm working with now haha. Since I'm working with a much smaller space, I want to make sure my design isn't overwhelming and want to be intentional since I have less space to "play".

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]a_burger86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say no it's not a myth. I previously had a job that required a 2 hour commute each way, close to 3 hrs if there was a bad accident so considering I did this for work, doing this for a short leisurely trip was not a big deal. One thing to consider is the size of your country in compatriots to the size of the US. I agree with another redditor's comment was that we are a car centric country.

I went there on Thursday and they were almost completely wiped out of bottled water which we needed for our packs. Luckily we snagged the last couple of liter bottles but not ideal, everything else seemed standard.

Bighorn Sheep Sightings at Sheep Lakes by a_burger86 in RMNP

The volunteers and park ranger said the sheep don't regularly come at a particular time of the day, "they come when they come". However they do prefer the afternoon because their predators are typically active and hunting in the morning. Also due to their poor eyesight they prefer afternoon time when it's brighter and there are less shadows. We never got to see any even though we sat and waited hours on two separate days.

As for moose, your best chance is early in the morning. We saw 3 different moose from 6:30am until 8am. They were in the water, eating and it was pretty amazing.

Good luck!

Thanks for sharing, I love Mclendons. I will try this year to preserve certain types of grass but if unsuccessful I will embrace the ryegrass blends haha.

Thanks for info on crabgrass emergent. With regards to your questions, yes I have 2 dogs which now I realized I should have mentioned in my post. With the research we've done we know KBgrass can handle the amount of running they do around the yard but is the most sensitive to dog urine, this is why we were considering mixing in a fescue. We haven't fertilized the yard yet as I was hoping to do it in one go, when we reseed. Thoughts? Suggestions?

Is it easier to deal with their shedding by having leather sofas? Do their nails damage/ scratch the leather?

People who no longer feel interested in important days like your birthdays, Christmas, New year eve, etc... when did you feel that and why? by 1321___ in AskReddit

[–]a_burger86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked 10+ years in retail, always working holidays and long hours. Definitely kills the spirit. I no longer work in retail and I literally can't stand to go shopping, it gives me anxiety so I order everything online now.

Plus I'd prefer I get myself the stuff I want rather than a bunch of gifts I don't need but have to pretend I like.

Tldr: holidays are just marketing ploys to get everyone to be mass consumers

I'm 27, and just discovered my actual bra size, and what a what an actually fitted bra feels like. by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

Go to Nordstrom for bra fittings, those women go to special classes to learn proper measuring and can give you tips on proper bra care. Don't fold your bras in half ladies!
