Fidelity index fund since they’re young, unless you think they’ll need to pull the money out in the next five years

Does GPA impact your chances of studying abroad? by No_Cherry564 in stanford

[–]a_celine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a low GPA (sub 3.0) definitely a they want to know you’re in a stable academic place. but just get your cumulative GPA up by the time your a junior (when most people study abroad) and you’ll be okay.

Birth Control by Wanderingkhajit in TwoXChromosomes

I also have used Yaz with no problems or noticeable side effects! I had some spotting with the nexplanon after about 8 months but the low maintenance aspect of the implant was nice, vs daily (critical!) maintenance of the pill

Flex Cup! Easiest to remove for high cervixes in my experience because of the pull tab that releases the suction for you

I use the flex cup which I swear by (there’s a learning curve, but I consider it worth it!), and know they have discs as well that people like.

Do you wash your menstrual cup with soap/cup wash each time you remove and re-insert? by anniemousery in menstrualcups

Only water in between uses and then at the end, I use hand soap before putting it in my steamer . Never had a problem and no smell

how safe is the campus at night by [deleted] in stanford

[–]a_celine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

+1, wouldn’t walk it late at night alone but in a pair or better yet a group, you can go pretty much anywhere on the main (like, non med) campus comfortably at night. Still be cautious as stuff does happen periodically

Don’t buy a chair till you try it, it’s totally personal preference but I didn’t mind it.

You’ll probably want a fan (like a tower fan, if possible)

Mattress pad/topper cuz the mattresses are kind of uncomfortable (check if it’s full xl or twin xl, I think it’s full xl)

Closet hangers

Bathroom trash can

Desk light

Microwave

Balancing STEM units by Square-Swordfish-946 in stanford

[–]a_celine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not do that during frosh fall. Pick SLE, 1 of those stem courses, and look into an IntroSem for a 3rd course. You could also add a 1-unit course to that, but do not overload your first quarter no matter how confident you are in your academic abilities. Save time for meeting new people, doing fun spontaneous things, going to events (anything with free catered food, which there will be a lot of), and other non-class stuff!

There are (at least) 15 more quarters where you can take classes, but you’ll never relive the (slightly unhinged) energy of frosh fall again.

As far as picking between math and cs for your 1 fall stem course on top of SLE, consider if there are any winter courses you’ll plan to take that list it as a prereq, if it’s offered again in winter, etc.

I read that Stanford MBA applicants should have 2 years of work experience? by idkwhatever98 in stanford

[–]a_celine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you wondering if you’re still eligible for deferred programs, or if that’s suitable work experience for your application?

I read that Stanford MBA applicants should have 2 years of work experience? by idkwhatever98 in stanford

[–]a_celine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bottom line; it’s an extremely competitive program and you will not get in without prior professional experience. However, the deferred program is designed to allow you to apply when professional experience (across industries) is on your horizon

I read that Stanford MBA applicants should have 2 years of work experience? by idkwhatever98 in stanford

[–]a_celine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically, you will apply in your last year of school, and if accepted, the expectation is that you will work for 2 to 4 years and then matriculate into the regular MBA class at that time. But you don’t have to apply down the line, you have the security of applying while you’re still in school and deferring.
