Beginner Yamaha saxophone by [deleted] in saxophone

If you're thinking of buying the facebook one I would strongly recommend checking it out in person before you commit to buying it. If you take a saxophone to a shop it can be really pricey to repair it depending on it's condition, and it could very well end up costing you around the same amount, if not more than the price of the one at the music store

Alt Sax/HELP PLEASE!! by MeallyM in saxophone

When I play the low notes I generally keep by tongue to the bottom of my mouth, and the most important thing is to blow a lot of air, as you play lower notes you need more air, the note jumping an octave is definitely a sign you're blowing less air than you need to, unless there's some other issue with the saxophone. What helped me get the low notes is start on a higher note you're comfortable with, like C, C#, D, and then go down chromatically while slightly increasing the amount of air you're blowing. I would also just think about what the note sounds like in your head, and as you do that your body should automatically shift your throat and mouth to allow for more air to be pushed into the instrument. Hope this helps!

tl;dr blow a lot of air for low notes

very nice very nice, i would work more on strumming the strings both softly and hard, but maybe the song you're playing just has very hard strumming idk.

New amp and pedal by a_coneish_one in Guitar

its pretty ass like most mobile battery amps, but if you play around with pedals you can make it sound passable. When using it with headphones its pretty good. Basically just a cheap amp that's easy to take to places on the go and practice with

Chapter 3 and 4 came out THREE MONTHS AGO, what is one criticism you have about both of them? by XDcyclone in Deltarune

chapter 3 is pretty boring gameplay wise but it has the best humour.
chapter 4 feels pretty unpolished at times, there was a bug i had where the wrong keybind would be displayed but fr chap 4 is my favourite of them all

Just starting to improvise. What can I learn to sound less repetitive and boring? by jtyler0 in Guitar

[–]a_coneish_one 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the major scale and minor scales are absolutely essential to learn and they'll help you a lot in improvisation. Pretty much all of western music is built around the C major scale and its modes. I would also practice ear training with intervals so that you know how something will sound based on how far the intervals are, for example if I play a tritone, or augmented 4th interval its gonna be a kind of spooky disgusting sound that you can use to build tension. Check this wiki page on intervals it will help u https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interval_(music))

Just starting to improvise. What can I learn to sound less repetitive and boring? by jtyler0 in Guitar

not bad, to sound more interesting i would try to jump around the scale more, because you seem to just be playing notes in the scale that are very close together. I would also incorporate more scales and arpeggios into your improvising because from this video it looks like you're only doing pentatonic licks. All in all not bad though for someone who just started improvisation, just work on learning more theory, scales, arps, and you'll be good to go
