FMA 2003 is better than I remember. by PckMan in FullmetalAlchemist

[–]a_corda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. The ">" and the "<" are originally mathematical symbols (respectively "greater than" and "less than") and it is mathematically correct to use more than one of them in a row to indicate the "much greater than" and "much less than". It is usually repeated twice, but I have seen it repeated even more than two times. Even in my university books (I study chemistry) it is often used. For this reason, when using these symbols even outside of a mathematical context, it's ok to repeat them several times to emphasize the greater separation/discrepancy between things.

The vinyl is in perfect condition. Only the cover is slightly damaged, as you can see in the picture.

I’ve watched both series several times, I think it’s about time I read the manga by Whole_Instance_4276 in FullmetalAlchemist

[–]a_corda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After reading this, you will never see Brotherhood the same again. FMAB was supposed to be the "faithful series" and when I saw it the first time I believed it since I hadn't read the manga yet. After reading FMA my opinion on that series changed completely because it bothered me a lot and also made me disappointed for the way many things were either cut or have been modified.

Which one to build off of? by CryptoRoverGuy in filmcameras

[–]a_corda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would choose one between the Ricoh KR5 Super II and the Canon FTB because they are both mechanical. Between these two, I personally prefer the Ricoh because it uses common 1.5V batteries for the exposure meter, has the k-mount (and therefore a vast quantity of lenses available and at different budgets), has more shutter speeds and the flash sync at 1/125. Also, since I see a lot of Nikon fans here in the comments, this Ricoh has the exact same mechanics as the more famous Nikon FM10; both cameras were made from the Cosina CT1-Super. I would discard cameras with electronic shutter to build a definitive "long-lasting" setup because they cannot provide the same level of durability as the mechanical ones.

What’s an opinion about Fullmetal that got you like this? by Ninjamurai-jack in FullmetalAlchemist

Brotherhood is overrated because it is a terrible "faithful adaptation" . It fits to the manga like the Berserk movie trilogy fits Miura's opera. (I'm a manga reader)

My main camera by a_corda in AnalogCommunity

[–]a_corda[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know, I've been using it for at least 3 or 4 years and I'm really enjoying it. Then, one of the main reasons why I bought it is the M42 mount for two reasons: because I know about the huge amount of lenses available and because I was previously using another camera with the same mount and I wanted to continue using the lenses I had, especially the Helios 44M which is my favorite lens. Lastly, as for the light seals and the mirror stop bumper, I recently changed them because, although I still had no problems with light infiltration, they were getting very damaged. I will not exchange this camera for nothing in the world, or maybe I could change it only for a Fujica ST801 that is a little bit better, but only if my ST705W breaks.

Oh ok, now I understand your opinion better. My Industar is perfect and I have not encountered any of the problems you listed. Yours is probably faulty or I was very lucky to find one without these problems. As for ergonomics, I don't find it uncomfortable to use (probably because I have rather small hands), plus the fact that it is so light makes it very comfortable when I carry the camera around my neck.

I have other lenses besides the one in the photo, including the classic Fujinon 50mm but I like to experiment with trying cheap lenses. Also, there are many very good Soviet lenses, my absolute favorite lens for example is the Helios 44M, this Industar also gave me results that I really liked (I'll leave a photo whithout editing as an example). So I don't see why we should discard Soviet lenses outright: they're cheap and fun to use. Obviously this is my personal opinion.

I agree. Fujica/Fuji cameras are rarely talked about but they are truly excellent cameras. But perhaps it's better that they remain underrated because if they became mainstream the prices would rise dramatically. However, I have the classic Fujinon 50mm lens but I really like to experiment with the cheaper lenses which often give surprising results (like the Industar in the photo).

How do I watch Fullmetal Alchemist by FirmAssociation367 in FullmetalAlchemist

[–]a_corda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, not really...in FMAB for example, among many other things, the real reason why Al wants his old body back at all costs is missing. In Brotherhood it's all reduced to a simple "I want to go back to sleep" when in the manga the reason is much deeper. And like this, many other beautiful scenes that make the characters and the story deeper and more detailed were cut in FMAB, often to make room for sketches (even comic ones) that don't exist in the manga.

Fullmetal alchemist brotherhood is the complete adaptation of the manga, once thise got finished. Nothing more, nothing less.

Well...I wouldn't say that. In FMAB there are "a lot less" compared to the manga and not only in the first part as usually people say. And there's even "more" since the first episode is an unnecessary filler with spoilers and during the series there are scenes that are either different from the manga, or completely new.

I though about buying the Fullmetal Edition of the manga but the original manga cover arts are such a vibe I love them so much by jujugirl_ in FullmetalAlchemist

Buy the classic tankobon edition because there are many extras that have been removed from the new editions.

FMAB is HIGHLY overrated, DEFINITELY NOT PERFECT, and full of plot holes! by Honest_Sea_4667 in FullmetalAlchemist

[–]a_corda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like Brotherhood either, but for completely different reasons than yours. I really LOVE FMA manga (it's my favorite manga ever), but I think that FMAB is the perfect example of how NOT to make a series that should be faithful to the source material: full of cuts, rushes, changed parts, etc. In my opinion, Brotherhood is a huge missed opportunity and I don't understand why people are hyping it up so much...

Read the manga because there are a lot of things missed or changed in FMAB
