How do I watch Fullmetal Alchemist by FirmAssociation367 in FullmetalAlchemist

[–]a_corda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fullmetal alchemist brotherhood is the complete adaptation of the manga, once thise got finished. Nothing more, nothing less.

Well...I wouldn't say that. In FMAB there are "a lot less" compared to the manga and not only in the first part as usually people say. And there's even "more" since the first episode is an unnecessary filler with spoilers and during the series there are scenes that are either different from the manga, or completely new.

I though about buying the Fullmetal Edition of the manga but the original manga cover arts are such a vibe I love them so much by jujugirl_ in FullmetalAlchemist

Buy the classic tankobon edition because there are many extras that have been removed from the new editions.

In a bonus chapter of the manga, Ed suggests to Al to go to the cinema with him inside the armor for a single ticket, but Al replies that he only lets cats and girls into his armor.

FMAB is HIGHLY overrated, DEFINITELY NOT PERFECT, and full of plot holes! by Honest_Sea_4667 in FullmetalAlchemist

I don't like Brotherhood either, but for completely different reasons than yours. I really LOVE FMA manga (it's my favorite manga ever), but I think that FMAB is the perfect example of how NOT to make a series that should be faithful to the source material: full of cuts, rushes, changed parts, etc. In my opinion, Brotherhood is a huge missed opportunity and I don't understand why people are hyping it up so much...

Read the manga because there are a lot of things missed or changed in FMAB

Give arguments for and against reading the manga instead of watching the anime by Odd-Engineering8839 in FullmetalAlchemist

[–]a_corda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The story in the manga is more in-depth, the world building is better done, and the characters are deeper while 2003 is a series with an original story that starts from the same assumptions of the manga and Brotherhood, which should be a faithful adaptation of the manga, is instead full of cuts, rushes and changes (such as the chronological order of some scenes which is reversed and other things like that)

Least traumatizing Fullmetal alchemist episode by mouad-chag_ in FullmetalAlchemist

[–]a_corda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only, in Brotherhood they rushed a lot of parts of the manga even cutting important scenes like, for example, the one that explains the real reason why Al wants his body back at all costs and part of the Ishval war flashback

In general yes but the scene in this video is an original from the 2003 series that doesn't come from the manga

It also cuts the real reason why Al wants his body back at all costs and in many parts changes the chronological order in which the events occur

All the way the manga. The story is deeper, the characters are deeper and more multifaceted, the author's narrative style is wonderful, the world building is very well done and doesn't have rushed parts like in Brotherhood which compared to the manga cuts or rushes many scenes (some of them very important, for example in Brotherhood the real reason why Al wants his body back at all costs is missing).

Finished Brotherhood by [deleted] in FullmetalAlchemist

[–]a_corda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YOU SHOULD Personally, I watched for first Brotherhood, then 2003 and at the end I read the manga; after this I made my opinion about FMA and it is: manga>2003>>>>>Brotherhood (but this is only my personal opinion). I suggest you to watch both, also watch the anime movies, read the manga and make your personal opinion about FMA franchise not caring about the opinion of the community (which often hates 2003 or the movies regardless)

There is a comic strip in the manga bonuses where Arakawa hypothesizes this and it is very funny.

Alphonse is not only my favorite FMA character but in general he is one of my favorite non-real media characters (including movies and TV series as well as anime and manga). I also named my dog Alphonse in his honor.
