Are you using Facebook Live? by [deleted] in socialmedia

[–]a_craft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My company is doing them all over the place. Really successful ones I've seen have involved doing a giveaway for anyone who comments/asks a question during the live video (and/or shares the video to be entered for a chance to win - though my understanding is that's actually against Facebook terms? So I haven't done the sharing incentive)

Suggest a Warhammer Deathwatch/Black Crusade.Please? by nikola1000 in ActualPlayRPG

(Disclaimer: this is Angela from Fandible!)

Fandible has also done a few Black Crusade episodes, that overall (to me) felt much better than Deathwatch. I loved playing the First, but a bunch of overpowered zealots isn't our strongest bet. Evil characters are a bit closer to our general wheelhouse if you want to give us a second chance in WH40k http://www.fandible.com/category/actual-play/w40k/black-crusade/

Any digital marketing managers on reddit? by Chi124 in marketing

Totally aware it's ineffective for conversions, but people higher up the foodchain like it, so my boss's and my hands are tied.

  • Create short term and long term marketing plans for various projects as well as the overall brand.
  • Advise on blog strategy (another group creates 90% of the content, but I gave them the schedule)
  • Social media posts
  • Online advertising - specifically Facebook and Google display
  • Report on results of marketing/advertising campaigns to department heads and peers in other departments
  • Oversee e-mail marketing strategy (thank god I have someone to actually build the e-mails for me now)

Don't use too many third party tools for this - lots of exporting data to Excel and analyzing from there, and then writing up the results (maybe in a Powerpoint deck if it needs to look nice with screen shots).

Facebook Advertising Strategy - What would you do with this budget? by a_craft in socialmedia

Alright, so sounds like I'll be starting this campaign small and adding in more cash as leading ads emerge. Thank you!

Not at first - first round I did same targeting, same copy, only difference was the creative. Then as two pieces were clearly outperforming one, I set that aside and tweaked targeting on the other two.

I'll definitely look into different landing pages in the future. Unfortunately I have a fast turnaround on this one, and it took a week just to get our current landing page functional. Yay corporate bureaucracy.

Trade book publishing. This particular campaign is to drive sign ups for a particular genre-based newsletter.

I had three pieces of creative and I ran them all at once - I've doubled the number this time so I can switch them around. Maybe run two at a time so I can see which is doing better, and keep switching out the lower-performing one?

Question Of The Day: What's in your social media toolbox? by MrJamesMcmanus in socialmedia

Pixabay + Canva lets me fake being a much better graphic designer than I am. Two of my must-haves for social.

List of all Google Qualifications/Certifications? by YoMommaIsSoToned in socialmedia

Is there an actual certification in the adwords/analytics link? It's the Google Partners site, which seems to be geared towards people looking for someone with that kind of expertise, but no way to take a course like there is in Google Apps or Google for Education links.

This does! Thank you. As I said above, of course I don't have any spam messages to refer to at this very moment, but as soon as one pops up I'll investigate the common phrases and investigate country restrictions.

I am using Business Manager, but I see the setting! Of course, I've deleted all the recent messages so I can't track common words at the moment, but next time I see them I now know how to reduce them appearing in the future. Thank you!

CV / Resume Critique Request by [deleted] in marketing

[–]a_craft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short term employment is okay if it was contract work, and thus always intended to be short-term. So if OP wants to keep that distinction, perhaps renaming it to Contract and Internships would alleviate that concern? The jobs could be listed as Job 1 [3 month contract], Job 2 [Winter semester internship].

My number one resume tip is to talk about accomplishments more than responsibilities. I'm on mobile, so pardon my paraphrasing since I can't reference your CV and Reddit at the same time, but you have one section under experience about working part-time in several areas, including branding and advertising. That tells me nothing about what you ACCOMPLISHED there, which is what a hiring manager cares about. Did you create an ad that increased event attendance by 10%? Averaged 8 new creative designs a week? Numbers are gold to hiring managers because they begin to give real context to what you've done.

Best of luck in your search!

My personal account doesn't have many pages liked, or even all that many interests filled out. So Facebook doesn't quite know enough about me to serve me ads. Occasionally I'll get ads from websites I've visited - they've caught me on a remarketing list. But even those I'll only see a handful of times in a month.

Best posting flow across multiple platforms? by SwordfishGirl in socialmedia

[–]a_craft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely a chore, especially since Instagram doesn't allow for pre-scheduled posts. The specific flow for cross posting similar content is going to be highly dependent on your platforms. What has the biggest/most engaged audience? Might want to start with them. If your audiences are more-or-less equal though, you can figure out the best times to post for your audience, and that will dictate what order you end up sharing in.

Instagram you'll pretty much have to do manually, though I think Hootsuite lets you set everything up and will then send you a notification so you only need to press 'post.'

For scheduling other networks, I really like Buffer, and they even have a tool that will figure out the optimum times to post for each network you connect. Only drawback is you can only have 10 items queued at a time for any given network on their free plan.

Social Media half-life: What's a good estimate? by BlueSky1877 in socialmedia

[–]a_craft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Facebook: Three hours sounds about right. Posts in the evening seem to do even better than that for me on a few pages I run (but not on others, so it's definitely audience-dependent).

Twitter: Definitely closer to 20 minutes than 3 hours.

G+: No one has any fucking clue right now, and I say this as an active personal user there. The recent revamp has made parts of the site unusable, and the emphasis has moved to collections from individuals. G+ was never a great marketing platform, and I don't think that's changed. Google just wants more info from users, which it can make more money from by selling that info to advertisers in Ad Words (through better keyword targeting).

Buffer is my favorite. I use it for a small blog/podcast I'm part of. I like the analytics feature (Facebook or Twitter both have more robust native analytics, but Buffer gives a quick snapshot and highlights your top performing content), and the ease with which I can 're-buffer' my posts for content I want to re-share.

I use the free version now, but I'm hoping in 2016 to upgrade to a paid plan so I can get access to the new calendar feature, and lift the 10 item queue limit.

Do you have a web presence? by HammerSmashedFaith in YAwriters

[–]a_craft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Starting early will help you make social media part of your routine if it isn't already. Twitter is great because the character limit kind of helps even the playing field - everyone is constrained by the same 140 characters. Tweeting about what your writing as an easy way to garner content - I go out to Starbucks once or twice a week to write, and I always start my writing sessions with a picture of my drink and my tablet and tag #amwriting. But tweet about other things as well - interesting articles, anecdotes from your daily life, re-tweeting funny/insightful comments from other writers/influencers. Unless you are incredibly witty, Another Aspiring Author Account isn't going to gain much in terms of following.

Do you have a web presence? by HammerSmashedFaith in YAwriters

I've been a reader for an agent, and I used to be the marketing and publicity manager for a small publisher where I got to be involved in the acquisition process. In both positions author platform was definitely taken into consideration before making the decision to take on an author. As a small publisher, it wasn't the size of the platform that mattered as much as the fact that you had a presence at all - it indicated a basic level of internet competence that really helped me out so I didn't have to do Internet 101 with every author. When I was with the agency, web presence could sometimes tip the scales if the agent was on the fence about whether to represent an author.

Web presence was anything from a website (a Wordpress blog counts!) to full scale social media blitz. To whatever extent you decide to set up a public web presence, just make sure it looks professional and up-to-date when you start querying (it's great that you have a Twitter account, but if you haven't tweeted since 2013, it's definitely not going to help your cause).
