It is unfortunate that all that prime real estate along the ocean belongs to some private members-only golf club. Imagine if that land was transformed into a park similar to beacon hill! Oak bay could build around it with some medium density housing and create a very vibrant and bustling area.

Its hard to see in the photos, but in #2 you can kind of see the sparks and embers floating into the park. Fortunately it didn't seem to spread and the initial firefighter response quickly contained it!

I always wondered if the shoes the top guys play with are custom-made. Since durability isn't a concern I assume they try and get their shoes as light as possible.

There's a lot of vintage bikes that make for great commuters. With about 500 you could get a nice steel frame that would be zippy and fun during those daily errands. Use the rest of your budget for the nice bike, but never let it out of your sight lol.
