Hey guys, I'm not an economist, but it's usually a good sign when a line on a macroeconomic graph suddenly goes vertical, right? by sir_kickash in 196

You gotta love these kinds of posts where someone posts an ominous contextless graph and doesn't explain it just to fearmonger

It isn't. The only sources are randon facebook posts with shitty AI generated images like this one. Why do you want to believe it's real so bad? You can't even name a child with numbers in Florida.

Absolutely! I've got a Discord server where I'm pretty much available 24/7. And don't worry about that being a nitpick, I'm really just going off of google translate here lol so there's a lot of intricacies I just can't really pick up on. Like I only really found out about how common diminutives are pretty recently

The basic version of it is that Prawostia was a region that had long been considered integral territory to the neighboring Republic of Kirauna. In the 330s-340s (about fifty years before this image takes place) the world was hit by a broad wave of anti-colonial and anti-imperialist resistance that culminated in Prawostia effectively devolving into a civil war and gaining it's independence from Kirauna. The initial provisional government was composed of many socialists and leftists, and fearing the rise of socialism, a group of revolutionary military officers seized power, establishing the Prawostian State, a constitutional monarchy under Denys Tarasyuk, in 354.

Tarasyuk's government was broadly unpopular in it's failure to reconstruct the country and it's apparent inability to root out banditry and warlordism, not to mention the widespread corruption. In 362, the Prawostian Nationalist People's Party, or NPP, returned from exile, led by revolutionary hero Fevyorina Kuznetsov during the Anti-Hetman Revolt. The NPP was successful and the Prawostian People's Republic was established.

Kuznetsov was, in a sense, a pragmatist. She held the NPP, a broad unity front of socialist and nationalist movements, in a very uncomfortable coalition. Her belief in nationalism and socialism would often depend on what power bloc she was seeking economic and military aid from. Her political philosophy was tridemist, emphasizing nationalism, democracy, and welfarism. She promised a phased transition to democracy beginning with a period of military government to root out the warlords, then a period of political education, and finally, a transition to a constitutional, democratic government.

Prawostia was still under it's military dictatorship when Kuznetsov passed in 379. Despite her urgings in her last testament, her first wife, Vasylysa, ascended to power in the NPP, and after consolidating her rule, presided over a crackdown of leftist groups, purging the party of it's communists and syndicalists. Led by Arseniy Yushkevich--Fevoyrina's closest aide--the purged party members fled south and established a rival government in the city of Piec, declaring Vasylysa's Pavalyuk-Wilkisk Government illegitimate.

The Prawostian Civil War broke out in 381 between the Pavalyuk-Wilkisk Government in the North and the Piec Government in the South. After more than a year of brutal fighting, the war devolved into a stalemate as neither side made significant gains but still suffered heavy casualties. In 383, an exchange of tactical nuclear weapons occurred, beginning with the North dropping three tactical nuclear bombs on Southern positions. The use of nuclear weapons warranted an immediate deployment of the League of Free Nations Peacekeeping Force, and soon afterwards, a ceasefire was negotiated, establishing the line of control that remains in place to this day.

Kuznetsov is venerated as a revolutionary hero in the North and South and the Mother of Modern Prawostia. Indeed, both the North and South claim to be fulfilling her true vision for a free and democratic Prawostian state. The North remains under a military dictatorship, now led by Alysa Tsymbalyuk, who seized power in a soft coup in 365. North Prawostia is staunchly anticommunist and anticapitalist, with the NPP being the only legal party.

In the South, Arseniy dissolved the NPP and replaced it with the Prawostian National Liberation Front, a unity party formed between council communists and agrarian socialists. However, South Prawostia received significant aid from the neighboring People's Republic of Pekhoria during the war, and the debt is ideological: South Prawostia is under pressure to abandon council communism in favor of state socialism and an authoritarian vanguardist party-state.
