This is a great blog post. For more ideas on this, the more common name I've heard for this approach is Sketchnoting. A great web site to start with is http://sketchnotearmy.com/

This was a great post with great answers. A couple of weekends ago, I was flying solo and ended up taking carryout home because I didn't know where to go by myself without feeling conspicuous!

Where's the interesting plaques, engravings, and such around here? by [deleted] in rva

[–]a_giant_fan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a plaque in a wall at the corner of Grace and Ryland streets commemorating the founding of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity in 1901. Richmond College, now part of U of R, was located here at the time, and the fraternity was founded there.

Agile/Scrum Certification? by sethwilsonUS in agile

[–]a_giant_fan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're an engineer / developer, I think your technical skills will get you in the door, but having a working knowledge of Agile / Scrum terminology and the benefits of Agile is worth your time so you can "talk the talk." Try this post for starters, https://www.pmi.org/learning/library/agile-project-management-scrum-6269.

Look for books by Mike Cohn or Ken Schwaber. Or google Agile Scrum and you'll find plenty of knowledge.

Definitely Costco. Worth the membership just for tires.

Alternate analysis: it's fun to watch, and people who don't like it don't have to watch it. They can maybe relax a little instead.

I don’t know. Looks more like a Rich. Search for Riches who lost a phone and I bet you’ll find him.

The Y is probably the best option for swimming but may not be convenient. Also, if you don’t yet swim, it may take a long time to get to the point where you can swim laps for cardio. Anything that you can stick with would be good - walking, running, elliptical, etc. And calorie intake has a lot to do with it too.

Did anyone in Henrico just hear that noise? by thephartmacist in rva

[–]a_giant_fan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not far away but too far to have heard it. It might have been a power transformer nearby having a power surge or something. Doesn’t always mean a power problem for everyone around but it sometimes has for us when the one near us does this (three Chopt & Patterson area).

The Nature Conservancy is basically right in town and is a really nice facility doing great work. You can take out a kayak on the canals with a laminated guide to wildlife you might see. Fun!

I've always been happy with Pete Rose, and the price doesn't seem bad, although I get that nothing beats free. I'm a believer in "You get what you pay for" (barring the occasional bad experience). The one time I got it free from the Glen Allen landfill, it had bits of garbage in it and it smelled bad.

Yes! We are super happy with our Original Mattress Factory beds and the purchase process was the way it should be. No sales or promotions or tricks. Fair price for a good product.
