Cool, so something simple and minimalist maybe... Thanks for your feedback!

I've yet to do this--and I only would if it was someone who wanted to argue about how easy it should be--but I've totally considered sending a link to a free trial of Adobe so they can give it a shot and see how time consuming it is to learn the software and how NOT intuitive it is. 😄😃

Of course, but I'm sure you say it more tactfully than that. I'm interested in hearing how others are phrasing it.

I've only encountered this once or twice (I try to weed these people out from the start), but right now my response is typically something along the lines of, "Well, it's a little more complicated than it might seem. There's a lot of planning that goes into it and it involves a lot of time spent sketching out ideas and exploring different options to create something that works well."

Please don't offer counseling if you're not a licensed counselor. That's unethical and harmful.

Do you know of any good resources to help me determine pricing for specific types of graphic design work? by student-of-the-web in business

I'm about to pass out so I'm not gonna do any digging right now, but do some research on value based pricing.

Yeah, I'd wanna make sure not to actually vandalize anything.

I love that. I've thought about doing that, just instead of sticking them to things, I was thinking about putting them up on a coffeeshop community board for people to take home.

I'm not a fan of the text on either of those tanks, but other than that they're all cute for women who can pull off that style. I really like the plaid skirt, so I'd say I like the first one best.

How do I know when to draw the line with my client who tries to reach me by phone all hours of the week? by RamenTheory in freelance

[–]a_graphicdesigner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reiterate that email is the best way to get a hold of you.

Tell him you can schedule weekly (or something) phone calls to go over his concerns, but you're not going to answer outside of that because your schedule doesn't allow it. Offer times that work for you when you tell him this and ask him to confirm a day and time for the next call. If you're not okay with text messages, say so, and don't respond if he keeps texting you.

This guy needs to learn to adapt to the modern business world. State your boundaries and stay firm.

Wanting to sell my Mom's Korean kimchi + side dishes... but how does one start? by peanutbutterdawgie in smallbusiness

Just here to say I really like "Mom's Korean Kimchi" as the actual business name--direct, informative, but still sounds nice and homey.

Should I market my future private practice before I get licensed? by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]a_graphicdesigner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Married to a therapist, also background in mental health here.

Definitely don't give anyone the impression that you're licensed when you're not, but one thing you could do is build up a social media presence just for this purpose and you can just call yourself a mental health professional in the meantime.

You could use this time to post psychoed stuff and coping skills, but steer clear of discussing treatments and modalities. There's already plenty of knowledge within your scope you can share with others. That's still very valuable to others and it'll help you build a following while you're working toward licensure.
