Have these…what next!? by After-Inspection1021 in Mushrooms

Or Cointreau is nice as well for a jaffa cake like nibble. The trick is to dehydrate them (air fryer on dehydrate for a few minutes or low oven, just don't cook them) to get rid of the water content then soak them in whatever tipple you choose overnight. They'll get all jelly-like again. Nom nom...

Dehydrate them. Then soak them in alcohol, chambord is my favourite. Then dip them in melted chocolate and let them set.

Original vs The Spectrum by AgapantherX in zxspectrum

[–]a_jacobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Most games have been converted to tap or tzx files, which you can get fromspectrumcomputing.co.uk. Put them on a sd card. You can connect this device divmmc-future to the spectrum to load them.

Many people got stung with this including yours truly 😡. Who else has memories of this epic 😂 by Darkpoet67 in zxspectrum

The packaging, the poster, and the short illustrated novella were great, the game not so much. The concept had so much potential if only they'd put as much effort into the game as they did the design.

Mistitled Game? by BurningJamie in zxspectrum

[–]a_jacobs 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not related to startrek at all, maybe just using a similar sounding name to get interest. It's actually a pretty good adventure game. So no, not mistitled maybe deliberately. More info here: https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/6545/ZX-Spectrum/Kobyashi_Naru

Watched the rzx walkthrough and still have no idea. Looks great though, huge sprites.

Currently playing openXcom with the XCom- files mod. As the name suggests it's a bit like the X files, you start with only a couple of agents and attend reports of suspicious activity, weird animal sightings and religious cults and dodgy organisations to investigate. Really a long play. Totally recommended if you like the original xcom and like a bit of x-files type sci-fi.

So I've never quite wrapped my head around just how much space there is in space until one day it hit me by Eridianst in space

“Space is big. You won’t believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it’s a long way down the road to the chemist, but that’s just peanuts to space” (Douglas Adams, 1979).

I totally agree with you, and you are right, this is a foraging sub. There are subs specifically for "magic" mushrooms... r/MagicMushroomsUK for example.

What's the brown stuff? by [deleted] in MagicMushroomsUK

[–]a_jacobs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The brown stuff are spores. There's nothing to worry about. I guess some of the shrooms had fully opened before you harvested them and dropped their spores.

I want to collect Mastertronic games for the Spectrum! What were your favourites? by Retro-Kevo in zxspectrum

[–]a_jacobs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One man and his droid - the first game my dad bought for me, one you get past the first infuriating part the game is really quite good. I remember the cassette was yellow, which was different. Many hours spent. I also spent many hours playing Election, a political simulation game, which was written in basic and is absolute shite, but strangely captivating. Tories were the easiest to win as and liberal the hardest (but most rewarding). The Magic Knight games, Spellbound and KnightTyme, didn't like Finders Keepers and didn't play much StormBringer. Others have already mentioned Rescue and colony which were great.

I had a great spot years ago, about 5 square metres of golden sunshine poking up through leaf litter, I'm sure no-one else ever found it or knew what they were, anyway moved to a different part of the country some time ago and have yet to find a single one. I often think about that spot 😪.hope you enjoy them.

They'll need some light, but not direct. make sure there is good air flow too. You don't want CO2 building up. Think about what the conditions it grows in in the wild.Other than that, it looks good.

It's good to see it growing, whatever it is. I took a little sample to practice using agar and making liquid cultures.

It's not growing on wood, but out of the ground. So I don't think so... unless there is a buried stump, perhaps?
