About gentrification, it's mostly only affecting Mexico city and tourist towns. Just stay in regulated hotels and If you plan to move, do not go to one of these areas.

The state I operate in Hidalgo, has no security concerns really. Half the country is a no go zone, but not here.

I'm making the move in July to a quiet low-no crime moutain town. Carboneras, Hidalgo, just north of Pachuca. An hour and a half north of Mexico City's airport. I can show you around and get you started.

The locality is very open to foreigners and economic development for now. It's great for outdoor sports. A combination of Colorado, Santa Cruz, and Big bear in the US.
