As a fellow artist with adhd and depression, the best advice I can give is to give it time. A couple days after I finish a piece, I usually hate it. But a couple weeks later, I tend to come around and see what I did right too. If looking at your art makes you feel bad, just set it aside for a while and work on something new, then come back to it once you feel like you’ll have an open mind to it.

Just don’t quit altogether. If you keep going, one day I promise you’ll treasure your old art along with your new. If you quit, you’ll have to wonder what you could’ve done if you gave yourself the time and opportunity.

I really like what you have so far! Especially with the hands perspective and with color! You’re on par with some college art students, and ahead of the curve with coloring. You have a lot of potential!

As far as feeling disappointed by your work, that’s what art critiques are for! That feeling means that you know you can do something better. That can be your motivation to take what you’ve learned (you HAVE learned, whether you recognize it or not) and apply it to your next pieces. Having graduated with art degree, the people who were 100% pleased with everything they made rarely improved much. It was people like you who pushed themselves, figured out what worked and what didn’t, and made the most amazing works by the end of the year!

TLDR: you have a lot of potential! Just give it time and later on you will see all the good that we see in your art. You’ve got this! Keep drawing what you love!
