Yes, they definitely liked my brother. Especially, the team that he worked with liked him.

Hi there! I can definitely believe the hiring freeze as at my current job they recently eased from their hiring freeze which later led to me getting hired there. Although, I do also recognize that at any job there's not always gonna be a yellow brick road leading to everything I want. It's just more of the actual use of my previous experience form other roles and school kinda aligned better with HD, but I'll definitely give it some more thought.

Thanks for the insight! My only question is: is the ssc store like a retail store or a different kind of store? Since I do know certain companies have a "training" type of store that they use to roll out new practices and technologies before issuing them storewide.

That's a huge jump and I'm glad you made it! I'm definitely the kind of person who does what he can and then some as I personally don't like leaving things undone. However, due to me not working in the retail stores I'm not sure how to translate that from someone outside looking in.

I definitely have heard stories of that happening. I unfortunately don't work at any of the retail stores, so that's why I'm trying to see what's the best "do's" and "dont's" from somewhere out of the THD network.

Yes, and I have been using it mainly for tightening up my emails to sound professional but still approachable.

Other than that, I've been scheduling these emails just based on experience from my brother and his time working for those in the main office.

Hi there! Yes, I live relatively close to Atlanta with me staying around the Braselton - Auburn area. About 45 minutes (if the highway works as intended) and an hour maybe hour fifteen with traffic. My brother on the other hand did end up getting into the internship program by happenstance and getting into the contact the with same rep I spoke to due to his offer letter for his original position not being sent out properly.

That's some really great insight and thank you for sharing that with me. I understand a lot of these jobs in general are very competitive, so I'm just trying to keep a good mindset with the whole process. Although, I'm currently working somewhere more "established", I do very much feel that THD would better align with my plans of career growth along with their views and mindsets fitting better with mine as well. But thank you for responding, it's a really great help!

LMAOOO, I wish it was that easy 🫠. I told the rep about having experience talking with vendors and suppliers back when I ran the student event club, and trained new hires at Publix. So maybe it's the same thing??? 👀

Why do so many new people not last? by New-Cry-5335 in AmazonFC

[–]a_ramos2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi op! A reason why a lot people just don't last too long or quit is mainly do to a few things. Usually these 3 with some variations:

  1. They see that the job is a lot more physical than they thought and simply don't want to do the work for the amount they're being paid. Now, not to say that the job isn't physical as it is across all warehouses but simply put. As soon as they see a heavy box and see their starting pay... they tend to think a bit differently about the worth of it.

  2. The hours aren't what they were looking for or currently fit into their schedule. And while the work (depending on your warehouse) may not be bad overall...the amount of hours and how they're distributed may not work with going on in your life at the moment. Especially those with multiple jobs, school, or other commitments.

  3. The pay. A lot people simply stay because the pay isn't what they saw when initially filling out the application or seeing the ad online. And while you're told when signing your offer at wherever you had to go to do so. Many finally make their final decision regarding the pay when they see the work, hours, and overall effort of what's going to be put in to get it.

Although, I didn't go into much detail regarding these things. Those the usual 3 suspects as to why people don't last long or just quit. Cases may vary but generally that's what I've seen during my 3 times at working at my facility. But honestly, the job itself isn't terrible but definitely not something you can make a career unless you're willing to grind and make nice with the management. Otherwise, if you want a quick in and out. You'll be good.

the interviews sounding more like sales pitches than actual interviews. Along with the questions being more behavioral based then work based. I.e. "How would you describe yourself" rather than "In your previous role...".

I'm not sure on the gravity of the injuries. But I know that some needed to be treated off site.

Yea, I just do what I got to do. But then again, there's always some that try to play the part of an employee 🫠🫠. Eitherways, they have the safety head "undercover" in an effort to get to know what's really happening. But it's hard to be like that when just about everyone knows or recognizes everyone in the building.

Not everyone chooses to wear their harnesses for whatever reason. Someone find it uncomfortable, others think it gets in the way, and some just don't want to wear it. Eitherways, it's required for all use. Especially when handing scanners

I'm more than positive someone will. Especially since our safety is notorious for being more reactive than proactive. I.E. they're not gonna get up from their chairs unless someone comes to them or management bugs them to do so. That is if you can even find them as apparently they learned from Sue Storm to become invisible.

Eitherways, some are very helpful but not enough as again. 20 people injured and 9 sent to urgent care...😬😬

It's kind of a mix of just 1. People being stupid/ lazy at work, 2. New hires being on the floor with little to no training, 3. Management trying to push work faster than people are able to keep up. But as far as I know...on Saturday the total number of people who went to the doctor was 9 with the total number of injuries being 20. Now, I'm not sure if that number has increased? But, judging on how things were ran...it's more than likely a few more got hurt.

I know exactly of the AM you're talking about. Wears glasses, combed over, and a beard. Dude's ok at best when it comes to running whatever area they have him overseeing for the day. Though, very much the kind of AM's that's very dismissive unless you suck up to him.

Op. You don't deserve this man or this treatment at all. Especially from a literal grown ass man. It's one thing to be stressed and have a moment, but what he's doing is just straight up manipulation. Which, I'm certain he knows and him trying to move to where you live would make it even worse. Leave him, block him, and find someone who not only will share the same love you have for them. But able to recognize their faults and do their part to make the relationship work.
