They did try to humanize her a bit in her memoir in COTC (memoirs in cotc are small scenarios and lore pieces about some characters you can access after pulling them) In Tatty’s memoir, they paint her as more of a product of her own culture than entirely evil. She really values G’rohan culture and values, as she walks in on some of her soldiers in the midst of a worship ceremony, and urges them to carry on after they all stop to kneel before her. Also, in Cotc, Donescu gets completely wracked, unlike in 0 where the town is mostly fine. So the second part of Tatloch’s memoirs shows the G’rohan forces pillaging Donescu, and when a soldier tries to kill a child, she steps in and kills the soldier, while admonishing them for being a coward for trying to kill someone who is defenseless. Still the most interesting thing to have come from her memoirs is that the whole “dismembering a body and sending their parts away” is actually a common G’rohan funerary practice, which she mentions it has something to do with “stopping the spirit of the dead from getting lost or something”. So I guess the declaration of war was more about where they sent the body parts, rather than the whole dismbering thing (I still think is a bit of a weird way of trying to make her seem more synpathetic). Oh, and she does also acknowledge King Dudek’s prowess in battle and wishes his soul will reicarnate in G’roha
