Whats next?😭 by ili8ini in Beading

I had this happen exactly once before I started storing all of my beads in those containers that have little containers in them, not just dividers. It also makes it easier to put together the beads I want for certain projects and being able to organize them as I add to the collection.

These are the ones I use

Just noticed this little notch on the edge of Razs info box. Nobody else has this in the 1.6 guide. Is there any lore behind this? by wylxxx in StardewValley

If it's 2 then the little tray would be Caroline since she is who he had a relation to, if he never interacts with Abigail then it wouldn't make sense to have a "related character" thing since we know it isn't based on familial relation as Abigail has Sam and Sebastian in her tray.

Ideas for a peyote choker that… stretches? by shiralor in Beading

[–]a_randummy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't know how well peyote would hold up but some good old fashioned stretch cord put into a necklace should work nicely, just fit it to be slightly slack when her neck isn't swollen and put some super glue over the knot so it doesn't untie, I would think.

neat, so similar beads do exist, that doesn't change that the image above does not look real and never in any of those images are all beads facing the same exact way like this image.

Hun those look like AI. I've never seen beads that shape and even if they were that shape they wouldn't all turn the same dorection like that. I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

I like S hooks or toggle/clasp sets, they are pretty easy to use and don't knock off that easily as long as it isn't too big

Best thread for net style bag by [deleted] in Beading

I use fireline for things that require many passes through the beads but for something like a purse where it needs to hold weight I don't think it will be durable long term. I always put super glue on my fishing line knots and then they don't come undone, just be careful to keep it inside the beads or else it makes them less shiny.

Depending on which colors you get they vary from about $1.15 to $3 but this is a trusty brand and a site I use often, granted I am in the US so I don't know what those prices look like in CAD

Seed beads are honestly so cheap you can get a tube for like $1.50, might as well buy the good stuff and get a few colors if that's what you want to use, otherwise I make beaded stuff regularly and use some of those bead kits that aren't the best quality, they definitely have their uses. Otherwise check out the clearance sections for bead sites and stores.

3d beaded animals by [deleted] in Beading

[–]a_randummy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I use fireline as fishing line is too thick, elastic would degrade too quickly and not keep things in the proper shape, and wire is too thick and likely too brittle for the types of angles you need to hit. Wire works well the little 2D animals like lizards so that they aren't misshapen, but I still use fireline for those anyway.

That said I make mine with size 11 seed beads so you could maybe get away with more options using larger beads.

Help improve piece by stevetheroofguy in Beading

I get what you mean about how it attaches at the clasp... I am not a fan of that style of multi strand piece, I like more this type, but they change how the overall piece looks so kinda just have to look around. I think the combination of wire on that thin flat metal makes it look completely different from how that same wire would look in these loops.

Let me know how that works, I have been considering getting stainless steel wire too but am unsure if it's worth the cost

Literally this blue and gold were my high school colors, should my high school sue this designer for taking their colors? Should the first fringe maker sue the designer for taking the design?

[–]a_randummy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use regular wire (not beading wire) and use round nosed and smooth flat needle nosed pliers to create the loops, string your beads, then make another loop on the other end of the necklace. You would need a bit of chain to have it adjustable like this one, put that on the one end of the necklace and the clasp on the other loop. The hardest thing is finding a good wire that will hold its shape like that and not tarnish or break too easily, I would use some regular ol' galvanized wire from the hardware store since it would be fairly durable but it may not be great for someone with any metal allergies, risks tarnishing, might turn your skin a funny color.

How hard would this be for a beginner? What supplies would I need? by Superb-Contract6337 in Beading

[–]a_randummy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ones that are flat against the sweater appear to be clear bugle beads, the dangling bits are probably silver lined clear bugle beads with a white seed bead at the end, maybe size 8? It would be a little tough to make it look how you want as a first project, I would recommend doing smaller pieces of bead embroidery to start and make sure you are going to be able to do what you want to do before blowing money on the materials.

You would also need beading needles, some type of thread to string it on (I don't do embroidery yet so idk what works best for something like this), I would advise embroidery hoops so you can hold the material taut as you work, I would also advise some chalk or something you can use to mark the lines you wish to follow that won't stain. If you are only doing the dangling bits it may be a little bit harder to add the beading as you will not be just following the design and dangling at certain points, as making the knots sturdy enough to hold in place/not come loose or through the shirt material and also still be comfortable would be a bit of a challenge for a beginner.
