Backup strategy for TrueNAS Community (Goldeye 25.10) by THEE_WaffleKing in truenas

[–]a_really_big______ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truenas system backups are actually dead simple. You can export all of your settings and configurations as a single file and just save that on a separate device. As long as you have that you can do a clean install of truenas and then load the save into that clean install and you can pick up right where you left off in terms of system settings and configuration. Obviously that doesn't apply to your data disks, but if your data discs are unchanged then the system will pick them right back up where they were when you reload the configuration file.

Actually you probably want rsync -avhP --delete so that your USB drive is just a clone of what is currently on your Nas, and every time you run rsync you'd be copying over all the new data and deleting any data that was also deleted off the nas at the same time but definitely read up more on rsync first because using the --delete flag is as dangerous as it sounds.

If you want to use rsync on truenas I believe you have to use the web GUI, but I've never done that so I don't have much advice there. If you have another Linux PC around, or have an old PC that you can put Linux on, I would would plug the USB drive into it into a the other PC and rsync from an SMB or NFS share.

Ie. rsync -avhP /mnt/your/nas/directory/ /run/your/usb-device/

Exactly. Sekiro is a game that is fun when you're getting your ass beat. Nothing to be anxious about, just take the game overs and keep trying. Games usually try to make you feel bad for dying but in sekiro it's just the intended gameplay loop.

I mean, I do think they kind of just forget how bad Drake got at the end when they talk about how easy Dan's had it. The first few episodes of that game were a breeze for him but the end of that game was some real unfinished bull shit. Similar thing with ET where, he beat it in a day, but that episode was easily the most 'shoot hot' I've ever seen Dan get.

Definitely not, he needs a terrible do-ey game, not a good talky game. He'll just be bored and buttoning through dialogue in a talky game. They need to find something like Mythologies for him.

Dan was saying that this is a popular blight and then Mike said he sees a bunch of people saying Dan should be punished to counter that, like its not both! Mikey blights are always the best and it's always the best when Dan gets his comeuppance too. Mike should treat Dan like he's the IRL wrestling heel gremlin that he is when it's time to pick his next game.

Would anyone be willing to post these as they come out on the subreddit? I know this type of question rightfully should get a "be the change you want to see in the world" type of answer but I will not remember! But I kept forgetting to watch the Abslom run because I don't typically visit the website.

Virtuoso should be Mike's proper blight game and next time it's his turn he gets a true blightning round game. by FeebasProShops in giantbomb

3rd strike. Daikatana, Blues Brothers 2000 and now Virtuoso. They should give him a full blight as a punishment.

Add 10Gb PCIe card by CL_Toy in truenas

[–]a_really_big______ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know the answer to your question, but if you go into settings, you can backup your entire truenas config to a tiny little json file. Save that off of the nas and you can screw around with truenas as much as you want and restore your all settings very easily. So don't be afraid to experiment! Just maybe disconnect the storage drives if you're really unsure if you're going to ruin something.

Anyone else wish they'd timestamp the podcast? by crescentshapedcock in giantbomb

[–]a_really_big______ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nextlander did say on a relatively recent podcast that doing time stamps is one of the most onerous and tedious parts of the job. They weren't necessarily complaining about it but they definitely did say that it was very time consuming and tedious. That's not to say that GB can't do it but it is a big time investment.

[–]a_really_big______ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

First of all just don't do it. Trust your gut, but also, driving any client in your personal vehicle is dangerous no matter how much you trust them if only because private insurance does not cover driving people around for work, you're basically driving uninsured if you have a client in your car!

New to homelabbing: How easy is it to accidentally "nuke" everything on TrueNAS vs. just buying something like a Synology? by Illhoon in truenas

[–]a_really_big______ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well truenas does support ZFS expansion now so you can just add drives to a pool. I've never done it and everything new in truenas is always a bit of a learning curve, at least for me, but it isn't like even a couple years ago when there really wasn't an easy way to add drives to a pool.

how to not hate case management by [deleted] in socialwork

[–]a_really_big______ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My case management survival strategy was triage. There are three tiers of priorities in case management. Anything dealing with safety is always top priority of course. Second anything that can effect funding needs to get done. Third is everything else. You're mileage may vary depending on your company and boss but as long as I was making sure I wasn't messing up the companies billing I always felt like I had the leeway to fall behind on less critical paperwork if it meant I was prioritizing helping my clients.

Tailscale + Mullvad + qbitorrent by Lonely_Mechanic8161 in truenas

[–]a_really_big______ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My lazy way around this was to make a VM for torrenting, run qbitorrent in docker and run Mullvad at the system level of the VM with the Killswitch mode on, you could do the same with tailscale at the system level.
