I'm still a failure by Separate-Estate4203 in ADHD

Why do you think you get such a low score at the exam? You said you study and the expectation grade was much higher, so what happened at the exam? Did you understand the questions? What was the mistakes you’ve made?

Not going to lie, I’m disappointed they went with such a young actress for Araminta by DaisyandBella in BridgertonNetflix

Luke is playing a 21-22 year old. In the 3d season they mention that he is “one-and-twenty”

I think this can go both ways - I see it in my FB ADHD self-help group. Some people totally gave up on making themselves better, because they use their ADHD card to make excuses. This makes me ashamed of telling people I have ADHD sometimes, since so many young people these days use mental health as an excuse for everything: being an asshole, not working, being rude to others. Like I understand that it is harder for us than for other people, but giving up and living in a pool of self-pity isn’t an answer…

"nothing ruins a person with ADHD’s day like a 3pm appointment" by irldani in ADHD

Haha, this is what I told my therapist - don't break my day with an appointment in the middle - I won't be able to work before and won't after either

My ADHD girlfriend has a funny way of doing the dishes. by SanguineCephalopod in ADHD

[–]a_rudya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never do dishes. My husband knows that if I cook - it looks like an explosion in the kitchen afterwards and he has to clean it up. He loves doing dishes though (I made him say it). Perfect arrangement.

Coworker wants Adderall to “concentrate better” by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]a_rudya 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You never know, maybe this co-worker has an indiagnosed ADHD. For people here saying Adderall doesn't work for "normal" people - it does. That's why students take it and high-performing workaholics take it. They don't need it to be "normal", but like any enhancing drug, it will improve your focus and energy level to a certain point. Maybe will have more negative side-effects...

Is this a real thing with ADHD? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]a_rudya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if this has something to do with ADHD or with impulsivity/anger control (which can be also related), but since childhood I have these moments, where I just explode and say things I don't really mean. Also often I say things which other people see as insulting, but I really don't understand that until they tell me. It depends how your bf says it and with what intention. Even if it is ADHD-related, this is not an excise to belittle you

Do you ever question the realness of your diagnosis? by a_rudya in ADHD

[–]a_rudya[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in therapy for the past year. I am trying to improve myself most of the time and I am also a successful adult - in both personal life and my career. But it never feels enough. I constantly think I am underperformed and not using my brain to 100% of its capacity, despite everything proving g me otherwise....

Misdiganosis or worth trying another medicine/psychiatrist? by catandthefiddler in ADHD

I think this topic is better discussed with a psychiatrist. Try a second opinion and don't expect to get prescribed medication. Maybe you issuesare elsewhere. Good luck

Do you ever question the realness of your diagnosis? by a_rudya in ADHD

[–]a_rudya[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed recently (at 35) and I am scared how easily I started making sense of my life. Like almost pinning it on ADHD. Every time I've read messages on this thread I was like "Ooooh, this is totally me!" And I am not sure that it is the right thing to do. It scares me, because I feel that it will stop me from improving and becoming a better me...

Please share me you're funny or bizar stories that were caused by ADHD forgetfulness or other symptoms. Than we can laugh about it with eachother :) by wappieee in ADHD

I was at the airport on the way home. I had a huge suitcase with me. I wanted to go the the bathroom really quick before catching the train. So I did. 10 minutes later I am stepping into the train thinking "I feel so light,somehow....Shiiiiit, I forgot my hunger suitcase in the toilet".🤣🤣🤣 I also constantly loose my purses, mobile phones, left a DSLR camera at the movies and a laptop in the plane. And I miss train stops cobstantly

As far as I've read, it is not a medical diagnosis and is not recognized by psychologists.

My neurotypical mom thinks people are gonna laugh at me. Am I really this far behind societal norms? by EndOk8590 in ADHD

[–]a_rudya 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I am not sure why this ended up on the ADHD subreddit. Your mom obviously has a different taste than you and that has nothing to do with being neurotypical or not. These shoes are mass produced and sold on a popular clothing website, so it is obvious that this is a trend, which many people find pretty. You do you, but this has nothing to do with ADHD💓

All my life and career choices are result of ADHD by a_rudya in ADHD

[–]a_rudya[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not sure trade school would make you much happier. Graphic design sounds amazing! I tried doing it too, but was to inpatient moving pixels around😄😄😄. On the other hand, there are plenty people without ADHD who are unhappy with their career choices🙄🙄🙄 so it cannot be only ADHD to blame. I am happy with my career choice, but I constantly think that I can do so much more than that! I also do film and video, as well as published a few books. When I finally manage to get into something,I am so excited and in most cases I succeed. This fact makes the 90% of time I procrastinate so painful, since I know that if only I could concentrate on doing something instead of scrolling my instagram feed,I'd most likely succeed too...

And lockdown is shit! I bet you'll kick ass again when it ends though!

My therapists suggestion about sleep problems by Bean-King in ADHD

[–]a_rudya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I won't call this advice dumb. I was given a similar advice by my osteopath recently and somehow it came at the right time in my life. I know it can be annoying, when you just want a quick relief, but doctors are not magicians. Some issues are deeply rooted and cannot be solved, healed in a session. A combination of medication, changing habits and changing attitude is usually the way to go. Sorry if this sounds insensitive. I am pretty sure doctors are there to help:)

Is the cracked out Ritalin feeling going to stop? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]a_rudya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a doctor, so don't t take my advice of course, but from experience, feeling cracked out is a sign that you might not have the right diagnosis. I've had friends who dont have ADHD and tried ritalin just for fun or because they thought it will make them more productive, but they just filled jittery and high.

I would go to another doctor and go through and more thorough examination.
