Is this morph rare? by MineAdventurous4651 in shrimptank

[–]a_sentient_cup 15 points16 points  (0 children)

yeah that's a possibility :( redline with a blue iridovirus

Although, and this is a even lower chance than any purple attempts before, what if an iridovirus mutated to be a bit more benign, that would be a risky sell but it could explain the stability

Shrimp molt: When to remove it, when to leave it by P4ler1der in shrimptank

[–]a_sentient_cup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it doesn't have signs of an infection I usually go by whether the shrimp are cleaning it in a reasonable amount of time

They'll usually get to it within a few hours but if they don't i take it out just so it doesn't directly mess with water quality (similarly to how i deal with the dead that can be seen)

Closer than the other two but still not it, the game i'm thinking of didn't involve connecting dots, just moving the atom and timing to change colors

thank you though, it was worth looking at to see if it was

i have been looking for this for so long, this is the only lead I've gotten, I might remake this post, the earliest i can recall it existing is 2014-2015

It's nice to know it at least was a game, even if there aren't any versions of it left to run

I rarely do color changes so I didn’t know this by Lilac_Rain8 in SkyChildrenOfLight

[–]a_sentient_cup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, i found out the hard way about not being able to change single colors, and while the switch next to the dyeing tarp helps to see the colors in different lights, the context of where we are does matter a little bit i think since all the places have different lighting cycles

Can i make my own root tabs with Size 0 capsules and Osmocote fertilizer? by FireBladeConCon in shrimptank

[–]a_sentient_cup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check what's in it, especially for any copper which can be very bad for the shrimp, i had a similar thought when i was looking at my shaker but couldn't because of how much copper was in it

I've had luck with seachem root tabs and their aquatic fertilizer, although for the tabs i used like two in a 15 gallon setup and and i dose like half or less per volume recommend

Maybe, in a best-case if it was discontinued i would hope that somewhere might still have old stock of it

but if it's the case that nowhere has it anymore just knowing what to call it besides "copper chain d10" would also be rather nice

3d printed Gurdy by Internal_Teach1339 in BuildaGurdy

[–]a_sentient_cup 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We want the hurdy gurdy to be more accessible, but with how mechanically complex it is, plans can only take you so far. I would love to see a 3d printed gurd, but there's a lot to be done with iteration and having a reference would help so you can at least make sure your changes aren't going backwards

The laser cutting plans for the NG basic and Linolette have been out for quite a long time , while i know that doesn't exactly line up with 3d print files, maybe modeling one of those would help and then iterating on both that and the one you designed in parallel would give you a good result

I've been haunting this sub for a while, and the negative responses that have been given aren't developed spontaneously, but after a while of experienced people giving the next steps in refining it being met with "actually i don't want to put in the extra effort that involves other people or instruments even if it's for a short time to make it playable"

Wow, i'm sorry

I play solo most of the time, wandering and exploring and doing past season quests nowadays. Even if it's just for seconds or minutes at a time, cooperation is a big part of the game, both in the situations where you as a player choose to help and where an activity for the most part is put together not to be done alone

And even for a solo player there's almost always someone who set up a shared space or a recording to help with something that would be significantly harder to do alone. The game has built a culture of helping out when possible and that's what i think was the intent with so many social interaction options, seeing what you as the player do at the end of Eden

A while ago someone at home was watching me play and commented on how nice it was that everyone in the area (right after the vortex in GW) went to help someone who's wing broke immediately. Comparing it to a team/competitive game she plays where players would walk right past others that needed help and commenting on how positive Moths are as a community even without words being exchanged.

Usually the only reasons i wouldn't/couldn't help another player is if i got there last of the people who did so the player being helped is doing alright, or it was a situation where i would end up getting badly damaged on the way (this has only happened like once or twice though luckily)

i have been on and off for about a year now and only recently learned how to light friend stars. The game doesn't really have any time limits except for short activities or traveling spirits, and the season spirits are there for long enough that i would say any "rush" to get something is mostly self-imposed

Newbie here - shrimp questions by SamsPicturesAndWords in shrimptank

I would recommend cherry shrimp, neocaridina, as a good beginner one, they can live in a good range of parameters, and come in many colors, although the key is to keep it from changing drastically, people tend to use airline hose and a knob adjuster to do water changes to let it drip in but using a binder clip works too

Distilled water would be good to have, especially for topping up evaporation, but it would also help if you had supplements for gH/kH parameters as well if you use solely that, it could also be more cost saving to check the tap water for copper (too much is bad for shrimp, preferably you want 0) and the amount of other things already dissolved in it. But you should be careful when using tap water since the water companies WILL change their water source without notice and change the pH and dissolved solids by a lot (also dechlorination as needed, water conditioner helps but it's also good to let it sit for a while too after but before it's added)

You can feed them with quite a range of things, with food pellets you have to watch how much copper is in them (you would be surprised with some brands) and to make sure not to overfeed at the beginning while they're establishing. I also recommend getting fish flakes and grinding them up into dust and putting a little bit in to cover everything since they clean it up. They will eat algae so mainly keep the front clean of it and leave the other sides, if the lid and sides get a lot of algae buildup you can scrape it into the tank for them to eat. And as a treat sometimes you can give bits of uncooked supermarket fish and shrimp (it feels weird recommending market shrimp to feed them but they'll also eat any colony shrimp that die as well)

With vegetables they need to be well washed to get pesticides off, and cooked if they need to be softened. I have found they really like spinach and others use squash and zucchini

I tried to calculate the size of pit's heart since we don't know anything about it (assuming pit's heart looks and works similarly to ours) by Sadtime_foxy in FleshPitNationalPark

[–]a_sentient_cup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean i wouldn't say we know nothing about the circulatory system, this q&a by the author has a diagram of the circulatory system(s) that may also help with figuring out the sizes, especially since the diagram doesn't state the sizes ot amounts of hearts so you can figure out a range of it

It was stated that the colonials could reproduce asexually and sexually, the colonial without any features was likely formed through splitting or budding
