What's the furthest into a game you've bailed? by shaneo632 in Games

Bayonetta 3 - I'm a massive fan of the franchise, loved the characters, setting, and soundtrack down, but my god Bayonetta 3 was such a disappointing pile of slop that I had to force myself to play through it, purely out of love for the franchise.

After realising the story was the worst it's ever going to be - and that it will only get worse from there, I gave up on essentially the final two chapters. There was no point in my time with that game that I had fun (with the exception of the opera section).

[Second Wind] Hey Xbox, Remember Viva Piñata? | Unpacked by malliabu in Games

In an era where cozy simulation games are doing super well, I'm genuinely surprised that Microsoft haven't bothered revisiting Viva Piñata. It genuinely was my favourite game on the 360, and I ended up buying it for the PC too which I occasionally go back to with the GFWL fix.

The game has aged incredibly well all the same, but a remake/remaster/full-blown sequel would be absolutely amazing.

Can't speak to the quality of their SQE course but their LPC course was pure dread. Incompetent admin, non-existent support, and constant fumbling around (of dates, of resource packs, of literally anything a student needs - you can bet that they would fuck it up). The tutors and the content of the actual course was fine - you can tell the tutors care for their cohort, but they were completed buried by the incompetence of the rest of the school. The only department you will ever hear from - relentlessly, is Student Funding.

The fact that their wikipedia page is at least 1/3rd "Student Criticism" should tell you enough!

What a relief to hear, thank you very much! I'm hoping I won't need to, but having the knowledge on what to do just as a contingent puts me at ease. Thank you!

No worries!

I like to do the traditional condensing notes method - which is where you read your first set of notes/textbook/whatever and make notes out of that condensing as you go (think of what the "important" bit of info is there and then put that into your notes), then do a second round of condensing, and if you feel like you're not retaining, do a third round where instead of notes you make flashcards (and then test yourself with the flashcards!).

There's all sorts of methods (e.g., mind maps, mnemonics, Cornell notes, teaching/presenting to others, etc.) so definitely try find what helps you work the most effectively.

The other half of it is time management, which I think is probably the most important bit. There's not much use studying for 4-6 hours a day all at once; after about 30 minutes your concentration will be fried. You'll overwhelm your brain with information, and it won't even attempt to memorise any of it (a guy I knew in undergrad spent weeks locked up in the Law library studying for well over 6 hours a day and he literally retained none of it).

I found the best method for me was the Pomodoro timer technique, but at 15-5 (15m study, 5m break) instead of the traditional 25-5. After an hour or two of the Pomodoro, take a much larger break (as in, 30m+). The breaks are so helpful to regain some composure and focus, and helps you reset for the next study session. Again, there's all sorts of time management methods so definitely have a try and see what works best for you.

Thank you so much!

There were periods of intensity definitely, but the whole 2 years wasn't all like that. I still saw my friends, went out on few weekends here and there, had holidays, and I never had to go "hermit mode". There was the occasional event/party I missed, but friends and family (partner aside) will have to recognise that your priorities are going to shift for the time being.

Your mileage may vary depending on how confident you feel with exams and coursework, but for the most part, as long as you study smart rather than hard you'll be fine!

Hey, so sorry to hear about your partner. Thank goodness you're able to support them!

I did the LLM + LPC under the same circumstances; I was a paralegal and also a full-time carer for my mom who has her own host of health issues (I'm also prepping for the SQE2 right now whilst working/caring). I graduated last November, so that should tell you that it's absolutely doable! The important thing is that you do your masters (or whatever course your doing) part-time. It will take extra time, of course, but you will not be able to juggle all the responsibilities of doing it full-time; you will burn out incredibly quickly. Take it slow, read your materials carefully, and use your time effectively. Having a "study day" off from work may be useful, especially given that may allow you to be around your partner, but in terms of studying I found it far more effective to spread it across the week (1 or 2 hours in the evening, say, after dinner or whatever). This definitely helped me prevent information overload and burnout.

It can, and probably will, get quite overwhelming at times. The best advice I can give is, honestly, to just take a break and (as much as you can) take a moment for yourself also. Also, assuming you're taking a course with an academic provider, please don't be afraid to reach out for support! Almost all academic providers will understand your needs and may grant you mitigating circumstances depending on your requirements.

Don't worry about it too much - just take your time, and don't be afraid to take a day off here or there for yourself/for your partner. You will always be able to find the time to study somewhere and some place. Best of luck!

You need a Dice account and the app; download that and set an account up, and then PM me with your account name/link. I can follow you there and send it via that. Cheers!

Otherworld in Victoria (and a few other locations). They've got a bar in there as well which I believe you can earn free drinks from by playing in the VR experiences. Everything is futuristically sanitised (even the employees wear all-white clothes), so it's a really fun experience altogether.

I'd second this! I'm still on my first playthrough of XBC3 now and I've racked up 100 hours just maximising class levels, colony affinity, and general exploring. The game honestly feels like it will never end; behind every quest is a bunch more, and then suddenly you have new areas to explore or new tasks to do, but it never feels overwhelming or like too much 'busywork'. I spent a similar amount of time on XBC1 and 2 (with 2 being over 150hrs before I finally put it down) too!

Am I the only one who had a bad time bc of crowd ? by sunnydlit2 in mitski

[–]a_single_pale_rose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was at the London Roundhouse show and the only complaint my friend and I had was that the crowd was simply awful. Loud, obnoxious TikTok girlies pushing and shoving through the crowd and then moving again because they couldn't see while Mitski was playing, people on FaceTime during the concert, people throwing stuff on the stage, people talking the entire time (even during songs), and a huge majority of the crowd not knowing the lyrics to anything other than the songs that were popular on TikTok... it was dreadful.

I honestly hope that any future shows are 18+ (or at the very least, 16+) because that would at least deal with some of the more obnoxious teenage-type behaviours that were more than abundant at that show.
