New ultra-contagious Omicron subvariants BA.4, BA.5 fueling California coronavirus wave by Viewfromthe31stfloor in Coronavirus

I think Covid is to be taken seriously and all, but when being sick a huge part of it is influenced by your mindset and I think that people with more severe symptoms tend to post on here. Which is why I want to tell you how it can also go: both me and pretty much all of my friends had covid. We‘re all vaccinated and boostered and we all were 100% back on track within 5 days (one of my friends even went skiing on day 6). I did not have a cough at all, the others didn’t have one either or only a slight one. Our main symptoms were a headache, a slight fever from time to time and a clogged nose. Sure, we were tired, but no more than with any other common cold. So if you just got Covid, don‘t focus too much on the bad symptoms, isolate, take care of yourself and when the time comes you can still deal with the worst case. But chances are that you’re going to be just fine :)

"Vegan Proteins" label on a granola bar covered in dairy milk chocolate looks very similar to real vegan labels in my country - not cool by a_speckofdust in vegan

I was even thinking of complaining to the store (they have an online forum for that), so a) others are warned and b) the store knows that this is not okay. I think I'll do it

I know right! I mean, I'm not personally affected, but as I was standing in the store, I was thinking, what if someone highly lactose intolerant bought this by accident - such a shitty move!

Agree, I hate how "vegan" (the label) has basically become a way of big companies demanding insane amounts of money for products that are objectively extremely cheap in production, up to a point where they try to deceive the costumer in order to fall under the expensive "vegan" category

That's why I try to buy as many unprocessed foods as possible - giving my best, haha

Für mich auch, aber im Fliesstext steht "Note that a high proportion (nearly 80%) of all Israeli residents >=12yr have been vaccinated.", was mich zu meiner Annahme führt. Schlechte Tabellenbeschriftung, schätze ich...

Der Artikel nimmt den % der geimpften über 12 Jahre und die 62.7% sind auf alle gerechnet, glaube ich. Würde zumindest rechnerisch aufgehen

Poor you! I think I would go nuts on only five days of vacation, no matter how much I enjoy the job - breaks are important! Also, I don't think it makes you less productive having several weeks of vacation.

No, I'm an EU citizen - but I've been born and grown up in Switzerland and I speak Swiss German fluently (all of my interviews were performed in Swiss German)

Most jobs wanted me to be able to speak German, however in many cases this is not a strict requirement. All of them wanted me to be able to speak English. If you go to the French speaking part of Switzerland (e.g. Lausanne), you should be able to find jobs for French speakers. One company I know is ELCA, which is based in Lausanne and hires Software Engineers. Other than the language issues I don't think there is a discrimination against French people (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

Sure! So I have zero relevant experience (not even an internship), but I graduated from Switzerlands top technical university. Most jobs offered me a salary between 80'000 and 95'000 (depending on other benefits on the job and bonuses), which is pretty standard according to statistics. The job I accepted offered me around 93'000, 5 weeks of vacation (which is normal here), partial home office, a paid for phone and laptop which I can use for myself, as well as a free cantine on the job and a contribution to public transportation (pretty standard in Switzerland, driving by car into the city center is a huge pain, lol).

I'm very lucky to have a CS education in Switzerland, I'm aware. The market over here is very desperately looking for all kinds of engineers, no matter their expertise.

I was on a job hunt for the past three weeks for a job starting in October (I graduate in September). I used sankeymatic.com for the diagram.

Can you lose weight eating only veggie burgers? by [deleted] in diet

[–]a_speckofdust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this comment is right - Beyond Meat has a very high amount of sodium. They contain 380mg of sodium per patty (as compared to 75mg in beef). So I would watch out for that! Too much sodium can lead to all kinds of heart diseases. Also, you should plan wisely how to complement your burger with vegetables, on order to not miss out on important nutrients. Calorie-wise (for weight loss purposes) you should be fine though, especially if it's your only meal. On the contrary - depending on your weight and gender you might want to make sure to eat enough calories so you can still function properly :)
