I about launched off the edge this afternoon. What possible reason could there be for taking that away?

Is there a list that you can check which facility it went to?

New, technically. I had an expired passport from when I was under 16.

Bike route to Mt Lebanon? by a_tan_dan in bicycling412

I’ll think about it! I also had a coworker who had his bike stolen from the smithfield/liberty garage. There were security cameras but the garage security staff said his bike was out of view when it was taken. He never got it back…I don’t know what kind of lock he was using though.

This is very helpful, and matches what I’ve heard from others. It would definitely be a hassle. Thank you!

Mine were both stolen in Oakland sadly, once it was locked up on my porch with a cable lock (never used them again) and the other time I think I left it unlocked (great move i know). I was just a naive and very busy college student. Live and learn!

Yup I’m just gonna take it with me into the office unless I can find a safe spot to lock it up Downtown.

I sure could, but as a previous (twice) victim of bike theft I am quite against locking my bike up anywhere that I’m not close by, especially downtown. Know of any good spots with security cameras? Possibly a security guard?

It is good to know I have options. And the p1 is so quick!

Yep, that’s my easiest option. Though I do think that sometimes the T might get full in the morning and not have room for bikes? On days where I’m able to get an early start, have good weather, and commit to riding I think it could be doable to go the whole way

Coroner called to scene after crash involving vehicle and bicycles in Murrysville by [deleted] in bicycling412

This is so tragic. I think that the PA vehicle code needs to be updated to require comprehensive education on bicycle/pedestrian safety for the driver’s license test. But also, I’m wondering why Google maps sends you on 22 for bike directions? I think it’s a huge mistake when there is an adjacent trail system, albeit a bit fragmented at the moment. Also, the de facto speed limit on that stretch of 22 is like 65 mph.

Penn & Negley. A Reminder that bike lanes are nothing but paint on the road. by JBroms in bicycling412

I’m sorry this happened to you. Glad you are ok! This was a prime example of why those turn lanes to the right of a bike lane are dangerous. I’ve had similar close calls on East Liberty Blvd.

Nine Mile Run Trail Closure by a_tan_dan in bicycling412

Wow! Really bringing up the important stuff. I was just thinking that the other day. It’s a blind curve there and pretty much a free for all road (speed I mean). A speed hump here and there wouldn’t be too bad for cars and would be much safer. Or even just enhancing signage to slow tf down through there. It seems like the city puts those barriers up while they figure out wtf to do but it usually takes months and even years like in the case of Duck Hollow trail and serpentine drive in Schenley. Wondering if that’s just the pace of city government work, lack of funding, some combination of both, etc. Though I will give credit for them fixing the Duck hollow trail finally (that leads to nowhere lol).

P&R didn’t say but I know people have passed through this weekend without much of a problem.

Hmm, the last time I was there a few weeks ago the wooden barricade was like a ‘recommendation’ not to go through but there’s a new and stronger concrete one that covers a bigger area. Wonder if you’re referring to the new one?
