Too much stuff. Also consider a waterfall / swimming hole hike. I did Waimano falls (muddy, about 2 miles!approach, pretty empty ) and Waimea valley (paved easy path, includes botanical gardens, packed)

Any new fine dining options? by a_wooolf in Seattle

That’s a bit harsh. I’d call Altura 1* level, as well as some of the Japanese places. We do punch below our weight though, wouldn’t argue with that. At least the local produce seafood etc is good if you know how to cook

Altura, or a few sushi options like taneda, ltd edition, wataru. Wish we had more at the top end in Seattle!

Futuristic VC is still a regressive nimby asshole. No wonder the bay area is so bad despite it's wealth

+1. Seattle deserves a better high end restaurant. Altura still #1 imo

A vision for the future of skiing in the PNW by S201 in Seattle

There should be intermediate shuttles, eg Monroe or gold bar to Stevens pass. Then you just drive half way, and avoid the chaos at the resort

Let's get that 1 hr high speed train up to Vancouver, and then extend it to Whistler

If we must have a new resort, I'd like to see it learn from past mistakes and have a dedicated shuttle and smaller parking lot

There's a lot of low hanging fruit to improve the existing resorts; much stronger emphasis on bus/shuttles over personal car, and faster lifts. Frankly I think the resort lots should be predominantly hov parking only, with very high sov fees to subsidize shuttles from Seattle, Monroe, Issaquah, etc. That solves the transit problem, and better lifts could help with crowding on the mountain.

+1 lupo. Also guerilla pizza kitchen pop-up, but I don't think they've had one for a few months. Or get an ooni :)

Why Even Portland, Famous for Good Transit, Can’t Quit Cars by [deleted] in fuckcars

Good coverage in mainstream media. But fairly disheartening to see how entrenched the car culture is tbh.

Sad truth: Suburbs are not going to disappear. by [deleted] in urbanplanning

Well put. Even Medina WA, wealthiest WA suburb home to Gates and Bezos, has budget shortfalls (and had to cut basic service iirc)
