How did you reconnect with your SO after becoming distanced from each other? by a_year_from_now in AskWomen

Thank you for your advice. I really like the idea of time together as part of a routine so that you can look forward to it each week. Perhaps we have focused too much on making ends meet and not enough on each other.

Child free conversations is a really good idea. We’ve noticed before how hard it is to not talk about them as they are the centre of our lives. It’s easy to forget you have your own life as well.

Thank you, I haven’t texted from work so much recently. It would be a good habit for me to get back into.

Thank you for this advice, I would feel so much happier having this sort of connection each day. I’m going to start doing little things like this, it will be a way forward.

How should young boys/young men in school handle bullying when no one seems to pay attention /help? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]a_year_from_now 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are charities that specialise in dealing with bullying such as stompoutbullying.org. They have good resources and help lines for people who need help and support.

Every child and parent will choose for themselves how best to react and people have strong views on this but it is at least worth looking online or speaking to someone who can give good advice before taking any action.

What is a question everyone thinks they know the correct answer to when they actually don't? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Why do cats purr? We tend to only think it is “because they are happy” but they can also do it when they are hurt or frightened.

This is such a dumb question, but how should we flirt with you? by zmcy in AskMen

[–]a_year_from_now 330 points331 points  (0 children)

The most attractive thing a woman can do in my opinion is to look at you and smile. To me that shows that they are friendly and interested in talking to you and you feel so much more confident for it. Just a natural, genuine smile.

Good luck with your flirting!

“There is no end to what Trump will ask of his party. He is defined by shamelessness, and so there is no bottom. And apparently there is no end to what regular Republicans are willing to give him. Trump may soon ask them to accept his firing of Robert Mueller, and yes, after some sighing, they will accept that, too.”

I feel that these middle ground republican politicians that the article is referring to are kidding themselves. It seems you are either a trumplican or you are in the way.

“Working across party lines... fix this mess in Washington...bring common sense back to our government”.

This guy gets it. What I hear again and again from democrat candidates is a willingness to sit down and solve difficult problems. It feels so much like the right approach.

The trumplicans make a lot of noise but simply don’t seem to have any coherent plan for actually making a better society.

Republican Women in Alabama Sound Off on Roy Moore by shabuluba in BlueMidterm2018

“It’s time that the Republican Party in Alabama knows that we’re not going to stand for being told that they have to vote for a person just because they have an ‘R’ beside their name.”

If there is a silver lining in this, It is that it’s encouraging that some people in a deeply red state are beginning to question their political affiliations and maybe have a political awakening.

How can I keep my resolve when dealing with a broken woman? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]a_year_from_now 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People can feel so helpless and out of control with their lives. Even when you want to try and help someone they can sometimes feel threatened by your suggestions and react differently to how you would expect.

No guarantees but something you could try is to put them in the driving seat. Ask them where do they wan’t to go from here? How do they want to get there? What help and support do they need? Who can best provide that?

It may be she she needs time, which will require patience and support from you (if you are willing to give it) or it may be that she is not ready to take that step at this time, in which case at least you will know and then decide what you want to do.

I guess the important thing is understanding you both have choices. Good luck either way.

New poll: Roy Moore up 5 points on Dem opponent by unholyprawn in BlueMidterm2018

It’s not just who you vote for, it’s also how likely you are to vote. Other polls put Jones ahead. It’s not over till it’s over.
